Publication Consumers' perception of islamic credit cards: An exploratory study(Universiti Putra Malaysia, 2017) ;Johan Z.J. ;Hussain M.Z. ;Putit L. ;Dali N.R.S.M. ;Hafit N.I.A. ;Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) ;Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIMIslamic Financial Planner CertificantThe growth and development of Islamic finance in Malaysia vis--vis the conventional finance has been supported by the comprehensive regulatory framework and a conducive environment. Despite the favourable operating environment, and commendable performance of certain Islamic financial products and services, a majority of financial services consumers is still pursuing conventional banking products. Their lack of acceptance of Shariah compliant banking products is attributable to many factors; including lack of knowledge and awareness of Shariah compliant issues, which has given rise to scepticism and continued misperception of the products as well as bankers' approaches to product and market development of Islamic financial products and services. This exploratory study is aimed at identifying consumer acceptance of Islamic Credit Cards (ICCs) and the determinants of their acceptance. The variables tested were attitude, knowledge, perceived benefits, brand reputation and Shariah compliance. Since Islamic banking products are meant for all, it is timely to highlight the focal point of Shariah compliance as the main attribute. This study also provides further insights into understanding consumers' acceptance of ICCs. Universiti Putra Malaysia Press. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Publication Early warning indicators for systemic banking crises: Household debt and property prices(Penerbit Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, 2020) ;Samad K.A. ;Daud S.N.M.Dali N.R.S.M.The 2008 financial crisis was the result of escalating house prices and a hasty increase in household debt. In a sample of 41 advanced and emerging countries, this paper employs a logit estimation model to examine the role of household debt and house price as indicators of systemic banking for the period of 1980 until 2018. The results confirm that a high growth in household debt and house price increase enhances the probability for crises to erupt. While this is a consistent evidence for advanced economies, an observation of emerging economies suggests that only a change in household debt and not a change in house prices may cause banking crises to erupt. Policymakers can thus design predictive EWS models based on the surge in household debt and house prices prior to the crises which would lessen, if not alleviate, the effect of upcoming economic shocks by monitoring the macroeconomic changes. 2020 Penerbit Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia. Publication Functional service quality satisfaction of islamic and conventional credit card users in Malaysia(Penerbit Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, 2014) ;Dali N.R.S.M. ;Yousafzai S. ;Hamid H.A. ;Faculty of Science and Technology ;Faculty of Economics and Muamalat ;Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM)Cardiff UniversityThe objective of this paper is to deepen the understanding of customers' satisfaction among credit card users. The study employs the Servperf model to evaluate the functional service quality dimensions of satisfaction of credit card users of Islamic versus conventional banking in Malaysia. The comparison between different types of credit card users is examined using factor analysis and regression. The dimensions are found to be robust for different types of credit card users, except for the Assurance dimension. The dimension did not form significantly in the factor analysis whenever respondents, who are Islamic credit card users, are included. Meanwhile, all of the dimensions are found in the regression analysis to have positive relationships with customer satisfaction, which are consistent with the theoretical prediction. This is the first contextual study conducted in the credit card industry that compares the functional service quality satisfaction of Islamic credit card users with conventional credit card users. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
