Publication Determination Of Physicochemical Parameters And Heavy Metals Contents In Tasik Al-Abrar And Several Lakes In USIM(Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia, 2021-02-18) ;Aliya Husna Mohd Hafiz, ;Che Nur Zuhayra Nasryn Nor Azian, ;Ehwan Ngadi,Mohamad Azani Abd. Khadir JalaniHeavy metal pollution has been a major concern due to their high potential risks in causing severe environmental and health problems. This study aims to study the mean concentrations of heavy metals in several lakes of Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM) and their potential to be developed for recreational purposes. The water sample from USIM lakes will first be sampled in a HDPE bottles before their physicochemical properties such as pH, conductivity, and total dissolved solids (TDS) as well as heavy metal concentrations will be studied. The physicochemical properties of water will be measured using total TDS/ conductivity and pH meter while the heavy metals contents will be studied using Inductively Coupled Plasma Optical Emission Spectroscopy (ICP OES). The types of heavy metals that will be observed are Arsenic (Ar), Cadmium (Cd), Lead (Pb), and Nickel (Ni). It is expected that the physicochemical parameters and the heavy metals concentration will be within the specification range as assigned by the Water Quality Index and National Water Quality Standards for Malaysia because most of the lakes are situated far from any industrial activities. Nonetheless, other factors that may contribute to any abnormal reading of heavy metal concentrations in the lakes also will be studied. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Publication Determination Of Polysaccharide From 'Cendawan Busut' Crude Water Extract(Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia, 2021-02-18) ;Ahmad Nabil Eshamudin, ;Mohd Redza Riquelme Nisham, ;Srivani Sellathoroe, ;Ehwan Ngadi,Rahayu AhmadTermitomyces is a genus of edible mushrooms commonly consumed in Africa and Asia among the mushroom collected from the wild. Several species of Termitomyces are commonly used for health promotion and treatment of illness. In this study, Termitomyces sp. Mushroom or locally known as 'cendawan busut' were isolated from Kuala Pilah. Negeri Sembilan, Malaysia. It was called as 'cendawan busut' because Termitomyces mushroom grow as symbionts in the termite nest, where they produce various enzyme to help termites digest lignocellulosic substrate. The bioactive compound (polysaccharide) was extracted from the mushroom fruiting bodies using hot-water extraction method. Fourier-Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR) analysis was carried out to confirm the presences of polysaccharide compound in the mushroom fruiting bodies extracts. Result demonstrated that polysaccharides are present in Termitomyces sp. mushroom fruiting bodies extract as it was compared with standard laminarin polysaccharide. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Publication DNA-based Method for Capra aegagrus hircus of Raw and Factorymade Milk(Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia, 2021-02-18) ;Mardziyah Noor Azizan, ;Sha Natrah Shahabudin , ;Ehwan Ngadi, ;Liyana Amalina Adnan, ;Tg Ainul Farha Tg Abdul rahman,A'wani Aziz NurdalilaAuthenticity is an important issue nowadays as humans are concerned about the quality of food they consume.Goat's milk contains more protein. carbohydrate, vitamins and minerals compare to other milk such as cows's milk. It contains less lactose and smaller fat globules than cow's milk. The composition of the goat's milk is known by people nowadays, especially the one who has lactose intolerant who cannot consume lactose and who are looking for a better milk nutrient. In this regard, determining the origin of milks using their deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) composition is of high importance. For this research, we will determine the authentication of commercialized also known as factory goat's milk by comparing it with fresh also known as raw farm goat's milk using DNA extraction method with the PROMEGA Kit of Genomic DNA. Thus, it can show the presence of milk origin by DNA in each of the milk samples collected. This study shows clear presence of DNA of milk and serve as a parameter for quality control of milk.
