Publication An Exploration of Hamka’s Perspective on the Issue of Khurafat of the Malay History in the Book “Perbendaharaan Lama”(Faculty of Leadership and Management, 2024) ;Fadli ZarliMd Yousuf AliIslam is founded on two fundamental pillars: the Qur'an and the Sunnah. Despite the rapid advancements in civilization and global scientific progress, superstitions persist across successive generations. This article aims to analyze Hamka's perspective on khurafat (superstition) related to the history of the Malay world as presented in the book "Perbendaharaan Lama" (The Old Treasury). This book is a valuable primary reference as it investigates specific Malay histories. History distortions can potentially disseminate inaccurate information and even distort facts into myths. A qualitative research approach was employed to conduct this analysis, utilizing content analysis. This study has provided evidence supporting the assertion that Hamka is a scholarly individual with a particular inclination for the field of History, with a specific focus on the Malay world. Nevertheless, many aspects of Malay history have been classified as myths, which may negatively affect religious belief. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Publication Understanding Hamka’s Concept of Khurafat and It's Effects on Muslim Faith in Indonesia: A Descriptive Analysis(Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia, 2024-08) ;Fadli ZarliMd Yousuf Ali [Supervisor]This study aims to examine the issues of khurāfāt and its effects on Muslim faith in Indonesia in the discourse of the prolific and prominent Indonesian Islamic scholar Haji Abd Malik Karim Amrullah (1908-1981), better known as ‘HAMKA’. The study explores HAMKA's critical approach to the issues of khurāfāt, focusing on his role and contribution. The study also identifies various aspects of khurāfāt and its effects on the Muslim faith and their solutions from an Islamic perspective. The method adopted by this study is qualitative research. Applying descriptive and textual analysis methods are based on HAMKA's selected’ s works such as his Quranic exegesis, books, articles, commentaries, and religious speeches, along with the views of other Muslim scholars regarding the issue of khurāfāt in Islam. This study attempts to formulate HAMKA’s concept of khurāfāt. The study also comprehensively evaluates its various aspects in accordance with the views of prominent Islamic scholars based on the Qur`an and Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). Needless to say, that many Muslims have been influenced by his writings and speeches in Indonesia and the Malay Muslim World. It is, therefore, hoped that the ideas raised will ultimately contribute to understand and clarify the concept of khurāfāt and its effects on the Muslim faith according to the views of HAMKA based on the Qur`an and Sunnah of the prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and its relevance to the Muslim faith in contemporary time for the wellbeing of humanity. This study has an ambitious mission to theorize the issues of khurāfāt for guidelines for people’s well-being in Muslim countries and the entire humanity.
