Publication Cognitive Distortion and Resilience Among Female Muslim Clients at A Drug Treatment and Rehabilitation Centre in Kelantan(Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia, 2019) ;Haslee Sharil Lim AbdullahSalina binti AbdullahThe unhealthy style of thinking affects the behavior of an individual. Having low self-esteem is also one of the causes for many women getting caught up in drug addiction issues. It is particularly alarming that women's involvement in the issue of drug addiction in Malaysia is increasing. Hence, this quatitative study involving 123 subjects was conducted to examine the level of Cognitive Distortion and Resilience among Muslim female clients in a drug treatment and rehabilitation center in Kelantan. The findings of this study showed that clients who have cognitive distortion were low and moderate while self-esteem was at high and moderate levels. It was found that there was no significant mean difference of CDS and resilience based on Al-Quran reading competence and academic qualification. It was also found that there was an indirect insignificant correlation between cognitive distortion and resilience. It is hoped that this study will provide awareness to the community about the importance of choosing a healthy mindset in facing any challenge. It is hoped that this study will also inspire the drug treatment and rehabilitation centers to focus more on counseling towards positive thinking and enhancing resilience of clients in order to reduce their relapse rate. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings

Publication The Effect Of Motivational Incentives On Clients’ Religious Self-regulation In An Institutionalized Drug Treatment Program(Human Resource Management Academic Research Society, 2022) ;Mohamad Salleh Abdul GhaniHaslee Sharil Lim AbdullahPerforming religious and spiritual activities is known to have a positive effect on substance use treatment and rehabilitation. Thus, this study aimed to examine the effect of motivational incentives in motivating clients to perform religious activities in a Narcotic Treatment and Rehabilitation Centre, also known as PUSPEN in Malaysia. A true experimental study was conducted involving the randomization of participants into the experimental groups that received tangible incentives for performing compulsory religious activities and the controlled groups that doesn’t receive any incentive. A total of 44 clients were selected as participants based on the inclusion criteria set by the researcher. The participants were assessed by their achievement in memorizing surahs as well as adherence to religious programs and activities in the PUSPEN within 12 weeks of study. A total of seven surahs and three extra surahs were targeted to be memorized by the participants throughout the study period. For the experimental group, participants were given incentives for each successful surah memorized. Meanwhile, for the control group, no form of incentive was given to the participants. CM rewards are in the form of stickers with a monetary value of RM5.00 each which can be used to exchange for items within the PUSPEN. Pre-test analysis to obtain baseline data was done prior to the study session and the post-test analysis was done after week-12 of study. Participants were gathered after one month the study ended for the follow-up test using the same instrument. The Religious Self-Regulated Questionnaire (SRQ-R) which have been translated into the Malay language and adapted into the Islamic version was used to examine the level of religious self-regulation during pre, post and follow-up test. The findings showed that there are no significant differences between the experimental group and the control group on the client's level of religious self-regulated in pre, post and follow-up tests. CM incentives helped improve the performance of the clients in memorizing surahs but did not significantly affect the clients’ motivation in performing religious activities during rehabilitation in the PUSPEN. The implementation of CM in the psycho-spiritual aspect in the PUSPEN environment is still considered as new and inconclusive. Future researchers can improve the study by increasing the sample size and uses higher incentives values to obtain a more accurate and comprehensive findings on the effectiveness of CM intervention on religious self-regulation. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings

- Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Publication The Implementation Of Contingency Management Intervention In An Institutionalized Drugs Treatment Facility In Malaysia(Human Resource Management Academic Research Societ, 2022) ;Mohamad Salleh Abdul Ghani ;Haslee Sharil Lim AbdullahMohamad Isa AmatDespite Contingency Management Intervention (CM) having been proven to be a highly effective intervention in the context of substance use treatment and rehabilitation worldwide, it is still rarely studied in the context of institutionalized treatment settings. The purpose of the study was to determine the effectiveness of CM intervention conducted in an institutionalized drug treatment setting in Malaysia. The study’s main objective was to examine the effectiveness of CM intervention on clients’ treatment engagement within a usual psychosocial (PS) program. A total of 44 clients from the Narcotic Addiction Rehabilitation Centre or PUSPEN were randomly assigned into two groups, namely the experimental group and the control group. The experimental group followed a 12-week psychosocial intervention (PS) with CM intervention (CM) (PS+CM). Meanwhile, the controlled group inclusively went through 12 weeks of the usual psychosocial intervention program (PS). CM intervention was used to reinforce clients’ engagement within treatment sessions by giving tangible rewards for every treatment engagement behaviour recorded. Rewards collected have an associated monetary value which was used to redeem retail items such as food, toiletries, books and clothing items. Data collection was performed weekly for every psychosocial session conducted by the PUSPEN’s treatment officers. The findings demonstrated that CM intervention effectively improves clients’ treatment engagement and verified that CM interventions can also be conducted in an institutionalized drug treatment setting in Malaysia. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Terdapat 6 program utama PDH iaitu, (1) Program Omnipresence, (2) Program Operasi Cegah (Pengesanan Dan Penahanan), (3) Program Operasi Sarang/Bersepadu, (4) Program Ikon Antidadah, (5) Program Media Baru, Luar Dan Statik dan (6) Program Pendayaupayaan Komuniti (Community Empowerment). - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings

Publication A Randomized Controlled Trial Of Contingency Management Therapy In Enhancing Treatment Engagement In A Drug Rehabilitation Centre(Center for Promoting Ideas, USA, 2018) ;Mohamad Salleh Abdul Ghani ;Mohamad Isa Amat ;Mohd Khairul Anuar Rahimi ;Haslee Sharil Lim AbdullahMuhammad Khairi MahyuddinBackground and aims: Contingency management (CM) is a highly effective intervention and has been widely tested and evaluated in the context of substance abuse treatment worldwide. However, this approach is still new in developing countries such as Malaysia. This article aims at determining the effect of CM on treatment engagement within a psychosocial program in a compulsory treatment center in Malaysia. Methods: A randomized controlled trial design was used in this study. A total of 45 methamphetamine-dependent inmates were selected as subjects and randomly assigned into two groups namely the experimental group of treatment as usual + contingency management (TAU+CM) (n=22) and the controlled group of treatment as usual (TAU) (n=23). The TAU+CM group followed a 12-week CM intervention and 4-week follow up session without CM reinforcement. Meanwhile, the TAU group went through 16 weeks of usual psychosocial session implemented in the center. Measurements: The primary outcome of the study was treatment engagement within treatment sessions. It is measured by three parameters which are the assessment of (1) homework completion, (2) active participation and (3) understanding of treatment session. CM reinforcement in a form of star stickers with certain monetary value was given to subjects who achieved the targeted goal in the TAU+CM group. The value of the stickers started from RM2.00 and the magnitude would increase every four weeks. No reinforcement was given in the TAU group. Findings: The TAU+CM group seemed to enhance the treatment engagement within the 12-week psychosocial program. Overall, both groups have showed an increased treatment engagement with the TAU+CM group has a higher achievement than the TAU group. However, the overall differences between the groups were not statistically significant, thus rejecting the main hypothesis of the study which hypothesized that there will be significant differences in treatment engagement between the TAU+CM group and TAU group. Conclusion: The study of CM in a special population, especially in a compulsory treatment center, has been very challenging for researchers. Some studies had similar insignificant result could be due to the special population effect which needs to be further investigated in future studies. Publication Reliability and Validity of the ACREDA Religious Self-Regulation Questionnaire (ASRQ-R)(Human Resource Management Academic Research Society, 2018) ;Mohd Khairul Anuar Rahimi ;Mohamad Salleh Abdul Ghani ;Norizatul Masturah Mohd Zaki ;Mohamad Isa Amat ;Haslee Sharil Lim AbdullahMuhammad Khairi MahyuddinDrug addiction remains a problem even after the establishment of different rehabilitation centers around Malaysia. Religiosity has been suggested as the way forward in combating drug addiction in a conservative Malaysian population. However, religiosity behavior has not been conclusively researched in Malaysia. Thus, this study examines the validity and reliability of the ACREDA Religious Self-Regulation Questionnaire (ASRQ-R) among recovering addicts in Malaysia. This instrument is adapted from the original 48-item ASRQ-R inventory by Ryan, Rigby, and King (1993) into a shorter, 12-item instrument. The instrument aimed to examine the motivation as to why a person engages in religious behavior and will. The instrument was back translated by language experts to maintain its authenticity, and face validity were done by counselling experts to examine its content. 86 residents at a drug rehabilitation centre in Sepang were chosen to gauge the reliability scores of the instrument. Analysis of the reliability indicated a Cronbach's Alpha score of 0.895, indicating high reliability. This provides evidence that the instrument is acceptable to be used in a Malaysian context, specifically the Malay Muslim population. Publication Self-control And Readiness To Change Amongst Recovering Addicts(Hampstead Psychological Associates, 2021) ;Brindha Vijayakone ;Haslee Sharil Lim Abdullah ;Othman W.N.HSiti Nubailah Mohd YusofPurpose: This study was done to identify and measure Self-Control and Readiness to Change amongst recovering addicts plus it also aims to compare recovering addicts’ Self-Control and Readiness to Change mean score based on age, race, marital status, educational level and duration involved in drugs. The relationship between Self-Control and Readiness to Change amongst recovering addicts also were examined in this study. Methodology: Study involved 190 respondents, randomly selected from a Cure and Care Rehabilitation Centre (CCRC) located in the state of Johor. Instruments used to measure the levels were the Self-Control Scale and the University of Rhode Island Change Assessment Scale (URICA). The quantitative descriptive design was applied and the questionnaire method was used to obtain data. Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) version 22.0 using descriptive, t-tests and correlation statistical analysis were used to analyze the data. Findings: Research findings showed that levels of Self-Control amongst recovering addicts were at an average level and the Readiness to Change amongst recovering addicts were at the Contemplation stage. There were no significant differences in recovering addicts’ SelfControl and Readiness to Change mean score based on the demographic variables examined. The findings of this study also showed an inverse correlation between Self-Control and Readiness to Change (r = - 0.15, n = 190, p = 0.04). However, the results cannot be generalized because the sample does not represent the population of all recovering addicts in Malaysia. Implications: The information gathered from this study is useful for understanding the level of Self-Control and Readiness to Change amongst recovering addicts, hence it can be emphasized in future drug prevention and rehabilitation programs in Malaysia. Originality of this study: Drug addiction problem in Malaysia is vastly increasing and there are many measures being taken to curb this problem. Hence, this study emphasizes on the importance of Self-Control and Readiness to Change for recovering addicts to gain a positive and healthy lifestyle. However, in this study its showed that, even if there is help and support from others, a change can only occur if the individual is prepared mentally and physically.
