Publication Conventional Border Molding versus Digital Impression on Complete Denture Impression: A Review(Bentham Science, 2023) ;Nusima Mohamed ;Hazira M. Yusof ;Norlela YacobNor Faharina Abdul HamidBackground: Definitive working impression of a complete denture requires proper border molding as part of impression techniques to capture the essential details of anatomical landmarks and the functional sulcus. In the era of digital dentistry, the digital impression using optical scanners may be an alternative to conventional techniques. Objective: This paper discusses the differences between conventional methods and digital impression in a complete denture covering its procedures, importance and relevance of border molding in both methods for a good working impression. Methods: The study reviewed papers from 2000 to 2022 in Medline and PubMed on border molding and complete denture working impression. Both methods were revised and contrasted to discuss the relevance and advantages of both approaches. Results: It is still controversial to conclude that digital impression is superior to the conventional method. Both methods have the strength to improve the quality of the impression taking procedure and complete denture quality of retention and stability. Digital impression gives more comfort and less post insertion adjustment. The conventional method still has good clinical outcomes in terms of retention and stability. Border molding should not be disregarded as part of the working impression procedure. Conclusion: The paper concludes that border molding and the conventional working impression technique are still relevant due to their comparable outcome compared to digital impression, as less cost and high skills are involved. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Publication Interdental Papilla Regeneration: The Updates On Several Techniques(Thieme Publication, 2023) ;Nur Ayman Abdul HayeiHazira M. YusofThe procedure for regenerating interdental papilla is complex and technique-sensitive. However, the patient demand to reduce black triangle has dramatically increased in recent years. This article aimed to review the most recent surgical techniques on interdental papilla regeneration by reporting studies published from 2016 to 2021. A literature search was performed in electronic databases, including PubMed, Medline, and Web of Science using the following keywords: “interdental papilla regeneration,” “papillary reconstruction,” “surgical papillary regeneration,” and “hyaluronic acid injection.” Studies that have involved surgical techniques for interdental papilla regeneration as well as less invasive surgical procedure such as hyaluronic acid injections are comprehensively reviewed in this article. Techniques such as tunnelling and coronally advanced flap appear to have better success rate compared to other techniques. In view of graft, connective tissue graft resulted in successful interdental papilla regeneration with papillary fill maintained over long-term compared to concentrated growth factors. A less invasive option would be hyaluronic acid injection, but with less success rate compared to surgical procedures. However, the results were limited by the lack of standardised method to measure successful interdental papilla regeneration. YusofFadzlina Abd. KarimPost-surgical orbital defects pose a severe effect on patient, psychologically and physically, especially in the eventual return to the society and daily routine. In cases where reconstructive surgery is not possible, prosthetic rehabilitation is crucial in addressing this issue. Implant-supported orbital prosthesis provides superior retention, however, it is not economically acceptable for some cases. Various modes of retention are available to cater to each patient’s diagnosis, treatment need and economical status. This article describes the procedures in the construction of a customized silicone orbital prosthesis using adhesive and spectacles for retention. YusofNur Ayman Abdul HayeiThe interdental papilla is of utmost importance in smile aesthetics. Missing interdental tissue often raises an aesthetic concern; however, the issue is more than just an aesthetic complication. This study reviews the most commonly seen cases and methods to minimize the aesthetic complications caused by missing interdental tissue. The technique that will be discussed is from nonsurgical techniques, including composite restoration, indirect restorations, and gingival veneer. This article is clinically relevant in educating clinicians on various methods to restore and improve the optics that arise from a missing interdental papilla.
