Publication Aktivisme Sosial Dan Pembangunan Modal Insan Menerusi Aktivisme Dakwah, Ilmu Pengetahuan, Kerohanian Dan Akhlak(Malaysian Journal of Social Sciences and Humanities, 2021) ;Kartini KamaruzzamanMohd Faridh Hafez Mhd OmarMasyarakat mempunyai peranan penting yang berupaya menjadi agen perubahan dalam sesebuah negara. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
- Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Publication The Challenges in The Development of Islamic Leadership: A View on Western and Islamic Perspectives(Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia, 2012-11-30) ;Kartini KamaruzzamanSiti Suriani Hj. OthmanManaging organization is associated with leadership as it also manages the social system in that organization and other compartments of division. Leadership alone does not assure that an organization may operate successfully unless there is smooth flow of communication. Communication is the biggest challenge in an organization because it involves going beyond mediated or un-mediated channels. The variation of authority level in management might affect the flow and the exposure of communication among members of the organization. The fear of being isolated for giving any opinion is another thing that still happens in our Islamic organization. The bonding of each member is far away from the value of 'Ukhuwwah 'while there are in existence groups in the organization that try to differentiate each other by name calling or status and some organizations are still seeking unlawful revenues which contradict the Islamic ways of organizational leadership. These are the obstructions that might hinder the development of Islamic leadership in our country. Thus, this paper attempts to discuss the challenges in the development of Islamic leadership and to offer some resolutions that the organization might implement. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Publication Considering the Symbiotic Relationship Between Religion, Digital Media, and Social Movement Leadership – A Systematic Review Using PRISMA(Jurnal Komunikasi, 2022)Kartini KamaruzzamanThe study of leadership has been long explicitly debated, specifically in social movements. While the discussion of social movement leadership has increasingly made its presence in digital media studies, it falls short of understanding religious socio-political action and in the nexus of religion. Moreover, the role of religion has continually been confined in the contexts of conflict, terrorism, and extremism. Based on the said argument, this article develops a systematic review of religion, digital media, and social movement leadership. The present paper follows the PRISMA systematic review protocol as a guideline for data collection and reporting. Data of articles were obtained from the Scopus database between 2010 and 2021. Findings indicate that religion is used both as an explanatory component to either rationalise conflict or to empower social movements. Religion plays a significant role in social movements that are mediated through digital media. Relevant studies have increasingly examined religion concerning online practices and in the context of social movements. The paper highlights that religiously embedded social movements can be examined using social movement and digital media perspectives. Nonetheless, it must extend the religious analytical lens to thoroughly comprehend the religious components, particularly when it involves religious social movement actors. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings

This includes university students who can be considered as a group of informed society due to knowledge they have and level of education, but may also be influenced by propaganda made by extremists. At the same time, Malaysia as an Islamic country has been perceived by the West as one of the countries that support radicalism and extremism. Hence, it is important for us to identify the status of radicalism and extremism among students and how classes at universities, especially Islamic universities help to reduce the influence of radicalism and extremism. This study conduct interviews with lecturers who teach Islamic courses in Malaysia to investigate how messages of de-radicalism are delivered in class at two universities namely Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM) and International Islamic University of Malaysia (IIUM). A total of six informants were interviewed to find out the status of radicalism and extremism at both universities. Secondly, this study also identifies teaching method or communication approach applied in class to examine the effectiveness to deliver anti radicalism and extremism messages. The study concludes that the status of radicalism and extremism among university students is not worrying in Malaysia, hence there is no specific teaching method applied in class to share messages related to radicalism and extremism in class. However, we have identified approaches of teaching and learning among lecturers who involve in de-radicalism and those who are not. Mainly, lecturers who involve in de-radicalism share their knowledge and experience in “mass form” in class, while lecturers who don’t, share the messages in a more individual or interpersonal approach. In conclusion, although the status of radicalism and extremism is low among students in Malaysia, hence there is no specific teaching and learning method on this matter.
