Adulteration may take the form of substitution of one species for another, where the food products from one species have been mixed intentionally with either a similar substitute material or a cheaper species. However, the use of pork and lard is a serious matter in Islam because foods containing ingredients from pig sources are haram (unlawful or prohibited) for Muslims to consume. Conventional techniques such as chromatography are time-consuming and require high capital cost. A possible way out is to use the rapid and less expensive near-infrared (NIR) spectroscopy. Therefore, in this study, apart from the conventional gas chromatography analysis, a variant of NIR spectroscopy, i.e., the long-wave NIR (LW-NIR) spectroscopy system at 1350–2450 nm region in combination with chemometrics analysis was used for detecting and quantifying lard adulteration in palm oil (PO). The result has shown that the samples with a minimum level of adulteration as low as 0.5% could still be easily detected with an overall correct classification rate using linear discriminant analysis (LDA) in the Open-source R software. PLS calibration gives good results between predicted and measured data in quantification, showing linear correlation with coefficient of determination (R2) at 0.9987. The result agreed well with the gas chromatography-mass spectroscopy (GC–MS) analysis and suggests the feasibility of LW-NIR spectroscopy as an efficient method for detecting and quantifying lard in palm oil. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Publication Classification Of Cow Milk Using Artificial Neural Network Developed From The Spectral Data Of Single-and Three-detector Spectrophotometers(Elsevier, 2019) ;Shima Behkami ;Sharifuddin M.Zain ;Mehrdad GholamiMohd Fared Abdul KhirSpectra data from two instruments (UV–Vis/NIR and FT-NIR) consisting of three and one detectors, respectively, were employed in order to discriminate the geographical origin of milk as a way to detect adulteration. Initially, principal component analysis (PCA) was used to see if clusters of milk from different origins are formed. Separation between samples of different origins were not observed with PCA, hence, feed-forward multi-layer perceptron artificial neural network (MLP-ANN) models were designed. ANN models were developed by changing the number of input variables and the best models were chosen based on high values of generalized R-square and entropy R-square, as well as small values of root mean square error (RMSE), mean absolute deviation (Mean Abs. Dev), and –loglikelihood while considering 100% classification rate. Based on the results, whether the spectra data was collected from a single or three detector instrument the same clustering was observed based on geographical origin. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings

This paper presents an approach for conducting a systematic literature review on the Cybersecurity Maturity Framework (CSMF) specific to international airports in Malaysia. The systematic review comprises three stages: identification, screening, and included. Rigorous screening of results was accomplished by applying predetermined inclusion and exclusion criteria. This systematic literature review comprehensively explains the prevalent frameworks, models, and standards for evaluating cybersecurity maturity. Kajian ini melibatkan pembangunan sebuah model alternatif aktiviti maahad tahfiz ketika PKP iaitu Maahd@Home dan penilaian keberhasilannya melalui projek rintis Maahad@Home. Publication Teknologi Penjimatan Air Ketika Mengambil Wudhu dan Perspektif Pengguna(Penerbit USIM, 2023)Mohd Fared Abdul KhirWudhu merupakan aktiviti membersihkan anggota-anggota wudhu. Ketika proses mengambil wudhu, banyak air kebiasaannya terbazir kerana dibiarkan berterusan mengalir. Oleh itu, kajian ini menelusuri kaedah kaedah dalam mengatasi masalah pembaziran air ketika mengambil wudhu dan memfokuskan kepada elemen teknologi yang telah dikaji oleh penyelidik terdahulu termasuk hasil-hasil rekayasa serta produk yang pernah berada di pasaran. Hasil kajian mendapati walau pun terdapat percubaan-percubaan terdahulu, namun belum ada satu pun yang telah berjaya mendapat tempat di pasaran. Ini menunjukkan keperluan terhadap penerusan penyelidikan dalam bidang ini terutamanya berkaitan penerimaan pengguna. Beberaapa kaedah penambahbaikan turut dicadangkan.
