Publication An Analysis of Adab Towards Parents Based on Imam Al-Bukhari’s Al-Adab Al-Mufrad: A Guideline on Adab of Children Towards Parents(Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia, 2024-08) ;Ruslinah Binti Haji YahanidMohd Rosmizi Abd Rahman [Supervisor]This study focuses on adab toward parents based on Imam al-Bukhari’s al-Adab al-Mufrad and developing a guideline on adab of children toward parents. The objective of this study is to outline adab principles for contemporary Muslim parents, particularly drawing upon insights from al-Adab al-Mufrad. This seminal work underscores the significance of adab rooted in the teachings of the Prophet Muhammad PBUH and the exemplary conduct of his Companions. To achieve its objectives, a qualitative content analysis approach was adopted. Additionally, this study integrates library research and descriptive methodologies to gather pertinent information and data from various sources including the Qur'an, sunnah, newspaper articles, relevant documents, encyclopaedias, dissertations, journal articles, reviews, academic books, and biographical accounts. The findings of this study will delineate contemporary parental adab guidelines derived from al-Adab al-Mufrad. These guidelines reflect a comprehensive comprehension of children's responsibilities and reverence towards their parents, extending beyond their lifetime. As per al-Adab al-Mufrad, respectful conduct towards living parents encompasses acts of compassion, obedience, supplication, and refraining from disobedience. Subsequently, upon the demise of both parents, children are obligated to settle their debts to Allah SWT and worldly debts, offer du’a, donate to charity on their behalf, and uphold their social connections. This research is anticipated to provide valuable insights within the community, including family members, educational authorities such as school curriculum departments, religious leaders, and individuals. It aims to identify effective strategies and methodologies to address the observed decline in societal adab. Moreover, this study endeavours to contribute to broader efforts aimed at nurturing familial adab and promoting healthy interactions between children and parents. Furthermore, by focusing on children's conduct in fulfilling the rights of the parents, this study aims to serve as a foundational resource for future initiatives aimed at fostering more impactful transformations in societal adab. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Publication The Buddhist Concept of Siila (Moral Values): An Islamic Analysis(Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia, 2024) ;Nurul Husna Binti MohamadMohd Rosmizi Abd Rahman [Supervisor]This research aims to discuss the concept of moral values in Buddhism according to an Islamic perspective. This academic research also examines ethical and moral resources and the importance and objective of ethical morality in Islam and Buddhism. Therefore, this research was conducted to find and discuss moral and ethical values in Islam to be made a universal value acceptable to all people and to see the Islamic view on the con-cept of sīīla (moral/ethical values) in Buddhism. This research was conducted using a qualitative method, a library study concerning books, magazines, articles, journals and other reading materials. This research covers four discussion chapters, which are the central pillar of this study. The first part introduces the research as a whole and is fol-lowed by the second chapter, which discusses moral values in Buddhism. The third chapter talks about universal moral values in Islam. Meanwhile, the fourth and last chap-ters contain an analysis from an Islamic perspective of the concept of sīīla (ethical moral values) in Buddhism. The research found significant similarities and differences in the moral values of Islam and Buddhism. While both religions share common ethical princi-ples, they also maintain distinct teachings that set them apart. Islam recognizes these shared values without equating the two religions and respects the unique aspects of Buddhism’s moral framework. Both Buddhism and Islam emphasize the importance of ethics, promoting virtues such as purity of thought, patience, modesty, truthfulness, kindness, and forgiveness, while condemning vices like lying, stealing, and murder. Both traditions see ethical living as crucial for addressing moral, personal, social, and international issues. Despite their differing philosophical foundations, these differences do not undermine their shared commitment to righteous conduct and the vital role of eth-ics in human life.
