Publication Do They Adapt or Collapse?Digital Immigrants to Digital Communication Technology during the Pandemic of Covid-19(USIM Press, 2022-11) ;Mohd Yusof Zulkefli ;Ahmad Farid Abdul Fuad ;Mohd Nor Azren Kamarudin ;Nathasha Diyana ZulkiflyAbdul Hamid SaifuddinCommunication has permanently been embedded into our life. The pandemic’s temporary erasure of daily communication and interaction has somehow posited people in danger of ostracization, missing out and, ultimately, loneliness. The COVID-19 pandemic was characterised by unprecedented development and the use of digital technologies. The global crisis brought on by the coronavirus pandemic has pushed us further into a digital world, and changes in behaviour are likely to have lasting effects when the economy starts to pick up. The recent experience with COVID-19 shows that the transition to these extraordinary circumstances is far from smooth. More specifically, digital immigrants to ICTs are even more disadvantaged than before. In many cases, the lifeline provided by technologies is only available to those able to access them. Compared to the digital natives, digital immigrants may suffer combined during this transitional digital phase of life and work. Henceforth, this concept paper will thoroughly explain the relationship between social distance and both excellent and negative markers of wellbeing while looking at the nature of digital social interaction through a series of updated literature about technology use among digital immigrants during the pandemic. In addition, the literature review will explain that confidence and competence are vital for learning new things compared to individuals who have not been exposed to technology. Furthermore, the psychological aspect of adopting technologies, which affects the adoption of linked technologies, includes user experience indefinitely. Finally, this concept paper will fill a gap in the literature by exploring the effects of COVID-19 digitalisation on communication and digital immigrants' ongoing technology usage behaviours. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Publication Exploring the Assessor's Competency in Selecting the Participant for the International Youth Exchange Program in Malaysia(USIM Press, 2022) ;Mohd Yusof ZulkefliFazulia ZulkifliIn the selection process, the competency of the assessor is vital. Competency reflects someone's quality or state of having sufficient knowledge, judgment, skill, or strength for a particular duty or respect. Undoubtedly, incompetency of the evaluation also happens when the assessors are beyond their professional capacity as assessors. When this situation happens, it will lead to the influence of personal judgments. To explore the influence of the selection process, the objective of this study is to determine the competency of the assessor in the decision-making process during the recruitment to select the candidate to represent Malaysia in the International Youth Exchange Program. The qualitative research method was chosen to conduct this study. Data was collected through an in-depth interview with five former assessors from the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the association's former assessor. Since Malaysia is under Movement Control Order, the interview was conducted via an online platform like Google Meet. The study found that the assessors were found to be competent as assessors. There is no element of gender discrimination that happened during the selection process. However, the credibility of the assessor from the NGOs is doubted. They are exposed to the conflict of interest of those they politically know from their association. As for the recommendation, it is sensible to propose the competency model for the assessor, part of the personnel who will play a significant role in ensuring the selection of the participants. A new persona description has been made based on the assessor's interpretation to select the youth to represent Malaysia. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings

A qualitative research method is chosen to conduct this research, and the phenomenological study served as the research design. The samples were selected through non-probability sampling. Researchers conducted in-depth interviews with parents with ASD children, Special Education teachers or caregivers, therapists, and instructional communication technology experts to gather insightful information about CMC and ASD individuals. Findings indicated that all the informants agreed the CMC, such as computers, phones, or TV, can encourage ASD individuals to communicate with others and helps in their education. Even though the CMC helps the ASD individual in communication and education, throughout learning and communication, the usage of the CMC should be monitored to avoid addiction. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Publication Halal Branding and the Consumer Response Among Non-Muslim Consumers(USIM Press, 2022-06) ;Mohd Fauzi Harun ;Mohd Yusof ZulkefliNor-Ezatul Hanani Mohamed RosliThe interpretation and application of halal might be different between non-Muslims and Muslims. Vast background in culture and religion in Malaysia would make not everyone be able to understand the topic of halal. However, the comprehension and the value of a multi-racial consumer perspective for better Halal branding practices in the country are excellent. The importance of this study is to understand the concept of halal and explore the attitude and behaviour of the halal brand among non-Muslims. This study is qualitative. The research design of this study is an exploratory case study that employs semi-structured interviews. With eight informants from the nonprobability of purposeful sampling, the participants include diverse backgrounds from students to industry experts, reflecting all possible study sides. The findings show that non-Muslims had limited knowledge about the halal brand. Halal is a specific notion to indicate that Muslim consumers' food is safe to consume. Especially pork-free and non-alcohol. Non-Muslim consumers affirmed they still need to know about the whole concept of halal more than just a logo. Understanding the need of others is also significant in a multi-racial country. Though non-Muslims are aware of the existence of the halal logo, especially in daily needs product, they do not restrict themself to halal brand as for them, quality and brand name is their priority in purchasing. Hence, based on this research, it is suggested that the future researcher explore how the brand image of the so-called halal product may attract and create the purchasing intention among non-Muslim consumers.
