Even though there have been numerous eradication initiatives, Malaysia's drug problem is getting worse. In this study, primary data are obtained through interviews, while secondary data are gathered from scientific literature, theses, papers, and journals to investigate the problems that arise in Malaysia's efforts to eradicate drugs. The primary data was gathered by utilizing a qualitative methodology through an interview session with five officers and members from the NCID Selangor and Police Contingent Headquarters, Bukit Aman. This study has two objectives: 1) it analyzes the drug situation in Malaysia from the perspective of the NCID, 2) examines the problems that arise in Malaysia's war on drugs from the perspective of the officers and policemen who work in the narcotics industry issues. The study's findings indicate that Malaysia's drug situation has escalated into a security threat, which can be explained by looking at the legal and legislative situation as well as drug possession and smuggling and distribution. But all respondents concurred that NCID is dedicated to reaching the focus stated and has shown this through several victories. Respondents discussed the internal factors; such as the quality of human resources, integrity, and the growth of infrastructure and logistics facilities; that are a barrier to drug combating efforts in Malaysia by exchanging their personal experiences. While external elements are influenced by geographic factors, virtual challenge, the existence of New Psychoactive Substances (NPS), modus operandi, drug mules, and legal/legal drug issues. From this study, it can be inferred that the NCID is still necessary for carrying out the task of drug combating, but that with the help of all parties, some of the concerns with drugs that were highlighted can be addressed and prompt steps taken toward holistic eradication. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Publication An Exploratory Study on Experiences of Performance Enhancing Drugs (PEDS) among Athletes in Malaysia(Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia, 2023-07)Siti Rosmawati Binti Abd RaforThis study aims to investigate the causes and effects of Performance-Enhancing Drugs (PEDs) among Malaysian athletes. This research employs a qualitative methodology based on semi-structured interviews. To obtain a deeper understanding of Malaysian athletes' knowledge regarding the use of prohibited substances and the extent to which the use of these substances affects their performance as athletes, the primary source for this study was interviews with five athletes. Five athletes and sports officials who have represented Malaysia in various sports such as rugby, weightlifting, and bodybuilding are included in this research. Using thematic analysis, meaning was extracted from the interview data. The results of the study indicate that the use of performance-enhancing drugs (PEDs) by Malaysian athletes is a complex issue influenced by multiple internal and external factors. Given the potential internal factors that may encourage PEDs use, such as the desire for a competitive edge or an achievement-oriented mindset, it is essential to note that these factors are not unique to Malaysia and may also apply to athletes from other nations. Significant and pervasive effects of PEDs on Malaysian athletes have been documented. Although they can temporarily improve athletic performance, they pose significant health risks and can result in anti-doping rule violations, ethical concerns, and negative effects on athletes, sports, and the national image. This study's findings have significant implications for numerous parties, including sports organizations, policymakers, instructors, and athletes. It emphasizes the need for comprehensive education and awareness programs aimed at athletes of all levels to discourage the use of performance-enhancing drugs (PEDs) and emphasize the significance of fair play and long-term health. To preserve the integrity of sports competitions, sports organizations and policymakers should also institute stringent drug testing protocols and strict penalties for athletes caught using PEDs. To maintain a level playing field for all athletes and to promote the ideals of equitable competition and sportsmanship, it is essential to continue monitoring and addressing the challenges posed by PEDs. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings

It affects the way of think, feel, and act, and plays an important role in determining how to manage stress, relate to others, and make choices. The study aims to explore the mental well-being management among police officers in the Narcotics Crime Investigation Department (JSJN) using the interview approach as primary data and secondary data from the collection of scientific material, theses, magazines/journals, and journals. The method of research is qualitative, where key data is collected through interviews with five (5) Inspector-level Police Officers in the Narcotics Crime Investigation Department around Klang Valley. The study has two (2) objectives: first (1) to identify and understand the specific stresses and hazards faced by JSJN Police Officers, and second (2) to understand the existing coping mechanisms and resources utilized by NCID Police Officers to manage stress and pressure, and contributing to broader research on stress management in high-pressure environments. The majority of respondents shared their real stories and experiences while conducting the assignment, forming the foundation of this research. Studies show that the main problem with the pressure faced by JSJN Police Officers is the attitude of employers who always want the success of operations in the short term and are irrelevant to pursuing the established KPI. However, all respondents acknowledged that they had made every effort to the Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to create success with teamwork provided and good understanding amongst each other. Although JSJN police officers have demonstrated their professionalism while performing their duties, there are still some important issues that need to be addressed to improve their officers' mental well-being so that the task of fighting drug crime can be carried out along with good mental health. The results of this study also showed the need for JSJN's top management to examine the pressure that each of its employees is experiencing so as not to harm the department in the future. The pursuit of "immediate success" should also be investigated to ensure that it is not driven by "interested individuals" to pursue popularity and recognition of a particular individual profile. Among the methods that can be done is an open dialogue between the top management of JSJN and the lower level. This approach has been able to support and improve the mental well-being of JSJN police officers and further improve the overall quality of performance of the Narcotics Crime Investigation Department, Royal Malaysia Police. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings

Publication The Role of Religion in Self-Care Experience among Crisis Counselors(Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia, 2024-08) ;Nur Husna binti Mohd.HafizMohd Zaliridzal Zakaria [Supervisor]Counselors in various crisis work settings regularly witness the suffering of others in crisis cases, exposing them to potential psychological impacts. While Western scholars extensively explore these effects, little research addresses the psychological well-being of counselors in crisis settings within the Malaysian context. Consequently, the discussion of self-care practices in crisis work remains scarce. Prior studies in Malaysia indicate that self-care practices among counselors often revolve around religious and spiritual activities, underscoring the influential role of religion in guiding these practices. However, a deeper understanding of the interplay between religion and self-care remains unexplored. Therefore, this qualitative study was conducted to explore the experiences of self-care practices among Malaysian counselors engaged in crisis work daily, with a particular focus on the role of religion and how the interplay between self-care practices and religion contributes to crisis counselors' overall functioning. The study employed a descriptive phenomenological approach to capture the essence of these experiences. Thirteen experienced Malaysian counselors working in crisis settings participated in the study. The findings reveal several distinct phases in the counselors' self-care practice experiences throughout their professional development in crisis work settings. These phases include exposure to traumatic cases, navigating the associated challenges, self-revitalization, and lessons learned. Each phase involves critical and complex cognitive processes that profoundly impact counselors' belief systems, psychological states, and overall functioning. Additionally, religion emerges as a pivotal factor guiding each phase of the self-care experience. Religion plays a significant role in meaning-making after exposure to traumatic cases, in adapting and coping with challenges while maintaining personal well-being, and in moral reflection to determine appropriate thoughts and actions based on lessons learned from their experiences. The study's findings have significant practical implications, calling for the design of targeted self-care training within current counselor education curricula and advanced training programs. Such initiatives would better equip intern and novice counselors in crisis work settings with the knowledge, skills, attitudes, inner capacities, and personal qualities necessary to promote their psychological well-being and effectively support their clients. This study contributes to the existing literature by shedding light on the nuanced interaction between self-care practices, religion, and the overall functioning of Malaysian counselors in crisis settings.
