Publication Self-Adjustment Experience In Quarantine Center: A Phenomenological Study Of Person Under Surviliance During The Pandemic Of Covid-19(Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia, 2021-10-06) ;Mohd Zaliridzal Zakaria ;Noor Ikhwatul Hassanah FadzilMuhammad Fauzi OthmanAs a method to combat the COVID 19 pandemic in Malaysia, all travelers from abroad were accorded a compulsory 14-days quarantine. Previous studies, such as Rainero et al. (2021) and Jassim et al. (2021) have found that the quarantine has brought profound impact towards their mental, emotional, and physical wellbeing. This qualitative research was conducted to explore this matter. Five research participants were interviewed at the point of saturation, and they were selected by purposive sampling method for an in-depth exploration of their experiences within the phenomenological inquiry. Due to the limitations of the current pandemic and the Movement Control Order (MCO) which hinders “face-to-face” interviews with the respondents, interviews were conducted through telephone. Data analysis from the interviews came up with two major themes: (1) self-adjustment, and (2) acceptance. Findings have helped us to understand the phenomena of quarantine and its effect on patients specifically on how they have adjusted to the practice, how they have developed to accept the circumstance and eventually make necessary adjustments. This could help health workers and counselor practice in Malaysia to understand this situation and usher future research.
