Publication Community-acquired Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus Aureus In A Malaysian Tertiary Centre(BioMed Central, 2013) ;Zetti Zainol Rashid ;Norazlah Bahari ;Amizah Othman ;Roslinda Jaafar ;Nurul Azmawati Binti Mohamed @ Abd Aziz ;Idimaz Jabbari ;Anita Sulong ;Rohaidah HashimNorazah AhmadCommunity-acquired methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (CAMRSA) is a pathogen recognized to be distinct in both phenotype and genotype from hospital-acquired MRSA. We have identified CA-MRSA cases in Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia Medical Centre, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, including their antibiotic susceptibility patterns and genotypic characteristics. Cases were identified during January to December 2009 from routine clinical specimens, where culture and antibiotic susceptibility results yielded pauci-resistant MRSA isolates suspected as being CA-MRSA. The patients clinical data were collected and their specimens were sent for molecular confirmation and analysis. Five cases of CAMRSA were identified, which had a multi-sensitive pattern on antibiotic susceptibility tests and were resistant to only penicillin and oxacillin. All cases were skin and soft-tissue infections, including diabetic foot with gangrene, infected scalp hematoma, philtrum abscess in a healthcare worker, thrombophlebitis complicated with abscess and infected bedsore. All five cases were confirmed MRSA by detection of mecA. SCCmec typing (ccr and mec complex) revealed SCCmec type IV for all cases except the infected bedsore case. Panton-Valentine leukocidin gene was positive in all isolates. As clinical features among methicillin-sensitive Staphylococcus aureus, CA-MRSA and nosocomial CA-MRSA are indistinct, early recognition is necessary in order to initiate appropriate antibiotics and infection control measures. Continual surveillance of pauci-resistant MRSA and molecular analysis are necessary in order to identify emerging strains as well as their epidemiology and transmission, both in the community and in healthcare setting. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Publication Effectiveness of Integrated Technology Apps for Supporting Healthy Food Purchasing and Consumption: A Systematic Review(MDPI Multidisciplinary Digital Publishing Institute, 2021) ;Sook-Yee Lim ;Kai-Wei Lee ;Wen-Li Seow ;Nurul Azmawati Binti Mohamed @ Abd Aziz ;Navin Kumar DevarajSyafinaz Amin-NordinA healthy diet is essential for good health and nutrition, though literature showed that there are various factors affecting the intention to purchase and consume healthy food. Technology integration is known to be useful in various aspects, but findings from studies on the efficacy of technology integration to improve healthy food consumption and purchase have largely been inconsistent. Therefore, we aimed to examine the efficacy of interventions that use technology apps to improve healthy food purchasing and consumption in adults. Relevant studies were identified through PubMed, Scopus, CINAHL, SportDiscuss and ACM Digital Library. Twenty studies were included in the systematic review. The majority of studies (n = 18) used a smartphone in the intervention, and only two studies used a personal digital assistant. The results showed that technology integration-based intervention favoured healthy changes in household food purchases, and increased consumption of healthy food and healthy eating outcomes—albeit to different extents. Overall, technology apps are convenient and user-friendly tools to encourage a change in healthy food purchase and consumption among people. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Publication The effectiveness of various gargle formulations and salt water against SARS-CoV-2(Nature Publishing Group, 2021) ;Vunjia Tiong ;Pouya Hassandarvish ;Sazaly Abu Bakar ;Nurul Azmawati Binti Mohamed @ Abd Aziz ;Wan Shahida Binti Wan Sulaiman ;Nizam Bin Baharom ;Farishah Nur Abdul SamadChe Ilina Binti Che IsahakThe COVID-19 is difficult to contain due to its high transmissibility rate and a long incubation period of 5 to 14 days. Moreover, more than half of the infected patients were young and asymptomatic. Virus transmission through asymptomatic patients is a major challenge to disease containment. Due to limited treatment options, preventive measures play major role in controlling the disease spread. Gargling with antiseptic formulation may have potential role in eliminating the virus in the throat. Four commercially available mouthwash/gargle formulations were tested for virucidal activity against SARS-CoV-2 in both clean (0.3 g/l BSA) and dirty (0.3 g/l BSA + 3 mL/L human erythrocytes) conditions at time points 30 and 60 s. The virus was isolated and propagated in Vero E6 cells. The cytotoxicity of the products to the Vero E6 was evaluated by kill time assay based on the European Standard EN14476:2013/FprA1:2015 protocol. Virus titres were calculated as 50% tissue culture infectious dose (TCID50/mL) using the Spearman-Karber method. A reduction in virus titer of 4 log10 corresponds to an inactivation of ≥ 99.99%. Formulations with cetylperidinium chloride, chlorhexidine and hexitidine achieved > 4 log10 reduction in viral titres when exposed within 30 s under both clean and dirty conditions. Thymol formulations achieved only 0.5 log10 reduction in viral titres. In addition, salt water was not proven effective. Gargle formulations with cetylperidinium chloride, chlorhexidine and hexetidine have great potential in reducing SAR-CoV-2 at the source of entry into the body, thus minimizing risk of transmission of COVID-19. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings

Publication Impact Of Foodalyzer© Application On Knowledge, Attitude, And Perception Towards Selecting Commercial Eateries To Prevent Foodborne Disease(Elsevier, 2023) ;Umi Kalsom Md Ariffin ;Shamarina Shohaimi ;Nurul Azmawati Binti Mohamed @ Abd Aziz ;Wen-Li Seow ;Abdul Rahman Mohamad Gobil ;Noris Mohd Norowi ;Madihah Mohd Saudi ;Nor Afiah Mohd Zulkefli ;Tengku Zetty Maztura Tengku Jamaluddin ;Roshariza Idris ;Shing Wei NgSyafinas Amin-NordinFoodborne disease related to commercial eateries remains a major concern in food safety control programs worldwide. This study aimed to assess the impact of the FOODAlyzer© as a web-based food safety education system on the knowledge, attitude, and perception of selecting commercial eateries among students of non-health-related courses in higher educational institutions in Peninsular Malaysia. The interventional study design was used as follows: the intervention group (n = 59) was compared with the control group (n = 59) in the pre-test (before the intervention), post-test (immediately after the intervention), and follow-up post-test (two weeks later). Baseline data showed that both the intervention and control groups had no significant difference in knowledge score, attitude, and perception. The intervention group achieved a higher knowledge score (p = 0.022) and attitude score (p < 0.0001), indicating a significant impact of food safety education in the FOODAlyzer© compared with the control group. The test of within-subjects showed a significant increase in respondents’ scores on knowledge, attitude, and perception. By contrast, the test of between-subjects found that the intervention group achieved a higher knowledge score (p = 0.022) and attitude score (p < 0.0001), which indicates a significant impact of food safety education compared with the control group. The findings suggest that knowledge and attitude in selecting commercial eateries based on food safety criteria among the students remained lacking. This paper presents the impact of food safety education to empower consumers towards the selection of commercial eateries and thus reduce the risk of foodborne illness. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Publication Knowledge, Acceptance And Perception On COVID-19 Vaccine Among Malaysians: A Web-based Survey(The Public Library of Science (PLOS), 2021) ;Nurul Azmawati Binti Mohamed @ Abd Aziz ;Hana Maizuliana Binti Solehan ;Mohd Dzulkhairi Bin Mohd Rani ;Muslimah IthninChe Ilina Binti Che IsahakBackground: Coronavirus disease 2019 or COVID-19 is caused by a newly discovered coronavirus, SARS-CoV-2. The Malaysian government has planned to procure COVID-19 vaccine through multiple agencies and companies in order to vaccinate at least 70% of the population. This study aimed to determine the knowledge, acceptance and perception of Malaysian adults regarding the COVID-19 vaccine. Methodology: An online survey was conducted for two weeks in December 2020. A bilingual, semi-structured questionnaire was set up using Google Forms and the generated link was shared on social media (i.e., Facebook and WhatsApp). The questionnaire consisted of questions on knowledge, acceptance and perception of COVID-19 vaccine. The association between demographic factors with scores on knowledge about COVID-19 vaccine were analysed using the Mann-Whitney test for two categorical variables, and the Kruskal-Wallis test used for more than two categorical variables. Results: A total of 1406 respondents participated, with the mean age of 37.07 years (SD = 16.05) years, and among them 926 (65.9%) were female. Sixty two percent of respondents had poor knowledge about COVID-19 vaccine (mean knowledge score 4.65; SD = 2.32) and 64.5% were willing to get a COVID-19 vaccine. High knowledge scores associated with higher education background, higher-income category and living with who is at higher risk of getting severe COVID-19. They were more likely to be willing to get vaccinated if they were in a lower age group, have higher education levels and were female. Conclusion: Even though knowledge about vaccine COVID-19 is inadequate, the majority of the respondents were willing to get vaccinated. This finding can help the Ministry of Health plan for future efforts to increase vaccine uptake that may eventually lead to herd immunity against COVID-19. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Publication Measuring customer satisfaction on the cleanliness of food premises using fuzzy conjoint analysis: A pilot test(Public Library of Science, 2021) ;Sook Yee Lim ;Ummilia Balqis Harun ;Abdul Rahman Gobil ;Noor Afiqah Mustafa ;Nur Azwanis Zahid ;Syafinaz Amin-Nordin ;Umi Kalsom Md. Ariffin ;Tengku Zetty Maztura Tengku Jamaluddin ;Nurul Azmawati Binti Mohamed @ Abd Aziz ;Nor Afiah Mohd ZulkefliShamarina ShohaimiDetermining the level of customer satisfaction in cleanliness regarding a product or service is a significant aspect of businesses. However, the availability of feedback tools for consumers to evaluate the cleanliness of a restaurant is a crucial issue as several aspects of cleanliness need to be evaluated collectively. To overcome this issue, this study designed a survey instrument based on the standard form used for grading the food premises and transformed it into a seven Likert scale questionnaire and consists of seven questions. This study employed fuzzy conjoint analysis to measure the level of satisfaction in cleanliness in food premises. This pilot study recruited 30 students in Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Seremban 3. The student’s perception was represented by the scores calculated based on their degree of similarities and corresponding levels of satisfaction, whereby, only scores with the highest degree of similarity were selected. Furthermore, this study identified the aspects of hygiene that assessed based on the customers’ satisfaction upon visiting the premises. The results indicated that the fuzzy conjoint analysis produced a similar outcome as the statistical mean, thus, was useful for the evaluation of customer satisfaction on the cleanliness of food premises. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Publication A Study Of Career Suitability Among Medical Students(World Academy of Science, Engineering and Technology, 2016) ;Nurul Azmawati Mohamed ;Zarini Ismail ;Shalinawati Ramli ;Nurul Hayati Chamhuri ;Nur Syahrina Rahim ;K. Omar ;Nurul Azmawati Binti Mohamed @ Abd Aziz ;Zarini Ismail ;Shalinawati Ramli ;Nurul Hayati Chamhuri ;Nur Syahrina RahimK. OmarChoosing a career is one of the most important decisions in our life. A right career leads a person to grow with that career and achieve success through the decision. Thus, career suitability assessment is important to help individuals to understand how a variety of personal attributes can impact their potential success and satisfaction with different career options and work environments. Some career needs specific personality trait that relates to attributes of job requirements and commitments. For medicine, being caring, approachable, inquisitive, able to listen and understand patients’ pain, anxiety and sorrow are important. The aim of this study was to evaluate the career suitability of pre-clinical students. This was a cross sectional study conducted among pre-clinical medical students in Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia. 'Sidek Career Interest Inventory’ was used to assess the students’ suitability for the course. This instrument had been validated locally to suit the local social and cultural context. It assessed the students’ personality trait based on Holland’s theory and their interests. For students to pursue in the medical course, two main personality trait are believed to be essential namely investigative and social trait personalities. Some of the characteristics of investigative trait are analytical, rational, intellectual and curious, while the characteristics of social trait personality include empathy, friendly, understanding and accommodating. The score for each personality trait were categorized as low (0-3.99), moderate (4-6.99) and high (7-10). A total of 81 pre-clinical medical students were included in this study. About two third (93.8%) of them were female and all of them are from 20 to 21 of age. Approximately, half of the students (47.5%) scored high and another 46.3% scored moderate for investigative trait. For social trait, only 13.8% scored high while 31.3% scored moderate. Only 12.5% (10) students had high scores for both investigative and social traits. Most of the pre-clinical medical students scored high in the investigative sections, however their social values were inadequate (low scores). For them to become good medical doctors, they should be good in both investigative and social skills to enhance their suitability for this career. Therefore, there is a need to nurture these medical students with appropriate social values and soft skills.
