Publication Biobutanol Production from Palm Kernel Cake (PKC) using Clostridium saccharoperbutylacetonicum N1-4 in Batch Culture Fermentation(North Carolina State Univ Dept Wood & Paper Sci, 2014) ;Shukor, H ;Al-Shorgani, NKN ;Abdeshahian, P ;Hamid, AA ;Anuar, N ;Rahman, NA ;Isa, MHM ;Kalil, MS ;Faculty of Science and Technology ;Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) ;Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM)Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP)Palm kernel cake (PKC), a by-product of palm oil industry, contains glucose and mannose as hexose sugars. This study was performed to determine the feasibility of using PKC as a lignocellulosic substrate for biobutanol production by Clostridium saccharoperbutylacetonicum N1-4 in an acetone-butanol-ethanol (ABE) fermentation process. Moreover, the effect of tryptone-yeast extract-acetate (TYA) medium and P2 medium on biobutanol production was evaluated. Experimental results showed that butanol production of 3.05 g/L was obtained using mannose sugar, which was comparable to 3.61 g/L butanol production measured using glucose. Moreover, the maximum production of biobutanol (0.38 g/L) was obtained at a PKC concentration of 30%, indicating the possibility of PKC utilization in butanol production. ABE fermentation of PKC using distilled water, TYA medium, and P2 medium showed that the highest butanol production (0.26 g/L) with ABE production of 0.38 g/L was obtained when ABE fermentation was conducted in P2 medium. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Publication Carbapenem-Resistant Enterobactericeae: Clinico-Epidemiological Perspective(Malaysian Soc Parasitology Tropical Medicine, 2018) ;Mohamed, NA ;Said, HM ;Hussin, H ;Rahman, NAHashim, RSince its first discovery in 1996, Carbapenem-resistant Enterobactericeae (CRE) has been increasingly reported as a cause of infections particularly in immuno-compromised patients. With limited treatment options, these multidrug-resistant organisms are associated with high mortality rates and are now recognized as an important cause of health-care associated infections. This study aimed to determine the prevalence of CRE at a 500-bedded tertiary hospital in Selangor, Malaysia. This study identified and analyzed CRE culture results from January 2015 to December 2016. The isolates were identified by conventional and Vitek 2 (R) methods. Susceptibility tests were done by disk diffusion technique and confirmed by E-test. Polymerase chain reaction was performed to identify NDM-1, KPC, OXA-48, VIM and IMP genes. Demographic data and clinical characteristics were collected from the Hospital Information System. The prevalence of CRE in 2015 and 2016 was 0.3% (5/1590) and 1.2% (17/1402) respectively. 65% of the patients had underlying haematological disorders. Majority (81.8%) of the isolates were Klebsiella pneumoniae, followed by Serratia marcescens, Escherichia coli, and Citrobacter koseri. Klebsiella pneumoniae that co-produced NDM-1 and OXA48 genes were the most common encounter (41%), followed by OXA-48 (35%), NDM-1 (12%) and KPC (6%). All isolates were resistant to all generations of cephalosporin and carbapenem. The rate of resistance to tigecycline, polymyxin B and colistin were quite high; 46% (5 from 12 isolates), 17% (2/12) and 17% (3/17) respectively. The prevalence of CRE in this institution was relatively low. However, there is a high prevalence of OXA-48 and NDM co-producer amongst CRE isolates. Physicians should have high index of CRE suspicion in hematological patients. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Publication Experiment with Text Summarization as a Positive Hierarchical Fuzzy Logic Ranking Indicator for Domain Specific Retrieval of Malay Translated Hadith(IEEE, 2019) ;bin Rodzman, SB ;Ismail, NK ;Rahman, NA ;Aljunid, SA ;Rahman, HA ;Nor, ZM ;Khalif, KMNKNoor, AYMRanking function acts as a predictive algorithm that is used to establish a simple ordering of documents according to its relevance and this process shows the effectiveness, quality and the accuracy for the variety type of Information Retrieval (IR) such as, Domain Specific Retrieval of Malay Translated Hadith. In this research, a Hierarchical Fuzzy Logic Controller of Mamdani-type Fuzzy Inference System has been built to define the ranking function based on the BM25 Model. The model examines four-inputs which are Ontology BM25 Score, Fabrication Rate of Hadith, Shia Rate of Hadith from the previous works of the researchers and the New additional Positive Rate of Hadith. It also examines four-output values of Final Ranking Score which consist of three triangular membership functions. The new Positive Rate of hadith is based on the score value of the automatic text summarization that was executed in pre-processing phase. The proposed system has outperformed the BM25 original score and the Vector Space Model (VM) on 5 topic of queries and 26 queries in the term of individual queries, while the BM25 original score and Vector Space Model only yielded better result in 3 and 0 queries respectively on the P@10, %no measures and MAP. P@10 represent the values of Precision at Rank 10 P@10), %no measures represent the percentage of queries with no relevant documents in the top ten retrieved and MAP represents Mean Average Precision of the queries. The results show the proposed system have capability to demote negative documents and move up the relevant documents in the ranking list with positive indicator and its capability to recall unseen document with the application of ontology in text retrieval. For the future works, the researcher would like to apply the usage of new ranking indicator such as reliability score from the expert and the lay users of the Domain Specific Retrieval of Malay Translated Hadith. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Publication Tagging Narrator's Names In Hadith Text(Univ El Oued, Fac Science & Technology, 2017) ;Rahman, NA ;Ismail, NK ;Nor, ZM ;Alias, MN ;Kamis, MSAlias, NText document expresses enormous sort of information but it lacks the imposed structure of a traditional database. Unstructured data, particularly free running text data has to be transformed into a structured data. Extracting information from text is part of NLP process. The implementation of the NER algorithm for NLP is normally influenced by the domain of the studies. Besides, there is no existing system that is designed to detect the types of named entity in hadith text; develop POS tags and rule based extraction for narrator's name in Hadith Text in the Malay language. The POS tags were developed from 1000 hadith texts. The POS tags were created involving a total of 256 words which is part of narrator's names. The rule based was developed to determine five types of narrator's chain. Further research will determine the relationship between each narrator and the construction of narration's chain.
