Saling bekerjasama adalah tunnjang kepada keharmonian sesebuah kehidupan berkeluarga. Kerangka asas kerjasama bagi sesebuah masyarakat dan kehidupan disebut dalam al-Quran menerusi ayat 71, surah al-Taubah. Menerusi ayat ini pasangan suami isteri boleh mengambil pendekatan untuk mewujudkan dan memperkasakan kerjasama sesama mereka dalam melayari kehidupan berumahtangga. Justeru, kertas kerja ini akan mengupas elemen kerjasama menerusi ayat 71, surah al-Taubah agar ia boleh dijadikan sebagai panduan yang lengkap bagi suami dan isteri untuk mengemudi kehidupan berumahtangga .Objektif kajian adalah untuk meneroka makna kontektual kerjasama antara suami dan isteri dengan menelusuri aspek bahasa dan pendekatan mufassir bagi ayat 71, Surah al-Taubah ini. Kajian ini berbentuk kualitatif dengan menggunakan kaedah analisis dokumen. Dapatan kajian merumuskan bahawa penggabungan jumlah ismiyah dan jumlah fi’liyah pada ayat 71, Surah al-Taubah bermaksud proses menggapai kebahagian dan keharmonian adalah proses berterusan dan perlu sentiasa diperbaharui. Justeru, kerukunan hidup berkeluarga boleh dicapai dengan syarat suami dan isteri konsisten menerapkan elemen-elemen kehidupan harmoni sesama mukmin yang disebut menerusi ayat 71, Surah al-Taubah. Ia menuntut agar sepasang suami isteri sentiasa berkasih sayang kerana Allah. Suami hendaklah sentiasa bertindak sebagai pelindung kepada isteri dengan menyayanginya, menafkahinya, menunjukkannya jalan kebaikan dan menegur kesalahannya sebagaimana yang dikehendaki oleh syarak.

Golongan munafik ialah mereka yang mempunyai penyakit di dalam hatinya. Golongan ini cukup terkenal dengan sifat mereka yang penuh tipu daya melalui kata-kata dan tindak-tanduk mereka. Surah at-Taubah merupakan antara surah yang banyak mengisahkan tentang perihal golongan ini di dalam ayat-ayatnya. Namun begitu, pengkaji-pengkaji yang lepas kurang memberikan perhatian kepada kajian mengenai sifat golongan munafik ini melalui bahasa tubuh. Oleh itu, tujuan kajian ini dijalankan adalah untuk mengenalpasti kewujudan bahasa tubuh golongan munafik di dalam surah at-Taubah. Kajian ini berbentuk kualitatif dan menggunakan pendekatan penganalisisan tematik. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan ialah kajian kepustakaan (library research) melalui penelitian kitab-kitab tafsir, jurnal dan artikel yang relevan kepada tajuk ini. Hasil kajian mendapati bahawa terdapat penggunaan bahasa tubuh di dalam surah at-Taubah; malas, perbuatan mencela, marah, perbuatan menggenggam tangan, ketawa, menangis, duduk berdiam dan saling berpandangan. Melalui bahasa tubuh, pemahaman kepada konteks dan makna ayat dapat difahamkan dengan lebih mendalam. Kajian ini penting bagi memberi pendedahan kepada masyarakat tentang bahasa tubuh dan golongan munafik sekaligus dapat meneliti konteks ayat surah at-Taubah dengan lebih baik. Di samping itu, kajian ini juga dapat menyumbang khidmatnya sebagai suatu cabang ilmu yang baru untuk dititikberatkan oleh pengkaji-pengkaji dalam bidang ini.

Kalimah ‘rijz’ merujuk kepada sejenis azab yang diturunkan Allah SWT ke dunia kepada beberapa umat terdahulu kerana mengingkari perintah Allah SWT. Berdasarkan perbahasan sarjana tafsir dan hadis, azab daripada jenis ‘rijz’ ini masih wujud sehingga ke hari ini. Namun, kajian menyeluruh mengenai kalimah ‘rijz’ masih tidak banyak diketengahkan, sedangkan manusia berdepan dengan bahayanya pada setiap zaman. Bahkan kebanyakannya kajian lepas lebih tertumpu kepada wabak penyakit Thaun. Justeru, artikel ini akan mengenalpasti dan menganalisis kalimah ‘rijz’ yang terdapat dalam Quran dan hadis. Ciri-ciri azab yang terdapat pada kalimah ‘rijz’ dan langkah-langkah preventif mengenainya akan dikenalpasti dan dianalisis menggunakan pendekatan analisis kandungan. Dapatan kajian menunjukkan bahawa kalimah “rijz” mempunyai ciri-ciri yang signifikan dengan beberapa jenis penyakit wabak yang diketahui pada hari ini. Hasil gabungan pengembangan makna kalimah ‘rijz’ dalam Quran dan hadis juga menunjukkan suatu pendekatan baharu bagi mendepani penyakit wabak yang berkemungkinan besar akan berlaku lagi sama ada pada masa kini atau akan datang. Kajian ini juga berpotensi menjadi jambatan ke arah pengintegrasian antara ilmu naqli dan aqli, khususnya dalam bidang perubatan dan sains kesihatan dan seumpamanya.

The main agenda of feminism movements is to fight for gender equality between women and men. This agenda is advocated both by the Western as well as by some Muslim feminists. In Malaysia, a Muslim activist group who aggressively fight for gender equality is known as Sisters in Islam (SIS). This group has challenged and questioned the validity and reliability of the interpretation of some Quranic verses related to women, as it is felt that some of the verses were misinterpreted. To the group, the misinterpretation of the verses has led to misunderstanding regarding the positions and rights of women, which resulted into gender inequality. This paper aims to discuss the standpoint of SIS concerning gender equality by focusing on several issues; the superiority of men (qawwamah), the credibility of women as witness and the rights of women to be an imam. An analytical technique is used to analyse the SIS group’s viewpoint on the issues by referring several printed sources and articles published. These views will be compared with prominent Muslim scholars’ interpretation on related verses that has been used to find any contradiction or misinterpretation. The study concluded that SIS holds a misleading understanding on the interpretation of certain Quranic verses led by misrepresented claims on the unfounded contradiction between the verses of the Quran

Al-Quran had mentioned about its function as cure and remedy for human disease through word shifa' since 1400 years ago. Nowadays, Islamic medicine approach has been chosen as complementary treatment for physical disorders such as cancer, heart disease, kidney disease, and stroke. Islamic medicine practitioners usually implement particular quranic verses in their treatment so called as ruqyah and also suggest to the patient to recite selected quranic verses at all time of the treatment. However, those quranic verses were not specifically related to those diseases in terms of its meaning. Thus, it is essential to revise the verses as to ensure that those quranic verses were implemented in the right way as its holy status. Objectives: This study attemps (1) to amass various mufassirin views regarding to the interpretation of the word shifa', (2) to summarize the interpretation of word shifa' through various mufassirin views and (3) to determine the right concept of implementation of quranic verses as the treatment for physical disorder based on the interpretation of word shifa'. Methodology: This study applies literature reviews method in order to obtain the data from the past and existing scholars texts and then analysing the data through inductive approach. Results: Quranic verses give tremendous effects as cure or remedy for human disease physically and spiritually through the detail discussion among mufassireen and current researches. Therefore, instead of conventional medicine, this practice should be recognized and implemented among Muslim as complementary treatment.

The COVID-19 pandemic that struck the world has changed the landscape of human life post-21st century. The existence of such epidemic diseases has also been recorded in the world history of human civilization. Interestingly, the Quran, which was revealed fifteen centuries ago, also touches on the issue of pandemic or epidemic diseases that occurred to the previous generations and provides a reminder for the future generations. The Quran explains that epidemic diseases are one of the forms of worldly azab or punishment sent by Allah as a reminder of the damage and tyranny committed by human beings. The interpretation of epidemic diseases in the Quran has been parsed by a famous exegesis scholar, Imam al-Razi in his magnum opus, The Exegesis of Mafatih al-Ghayb. His masterpiece has brought a new dimension in understanding epidemic diseases through the combination of naqli and aqli approaches. Nonetheless, the collection of epidemic verses in The Exegesis of Mafatih al-Ghayb has been less frequently discussed. Therefore, this paper presents a study that identified and analyzed the verses related to epidemic diseases based on the views of Imam al-Razi. This study employed the qualitative method based on the text analysis approach using the Quran and The Exegesis of Mafatih al-Ghayb. This study found that the words rijz, rijs, and azab are synonymous with epidemics. These three words have certain characteristics that lead to the spread of the epidemic as stated by Imam al-Razi. Additionally, there are several holistic approaches stated by al-Razi in understanding epidemics and how to avoid them at present time and in the future. This approach needs to be understood by every layer of the society in order for the message of the Quran on epidemic diseases to be understood well and to curb the spread of epidemics.

Asmaul Husna is a compilation of 99 names of Allah mentioned repeatedly in the Quran. All the names under the Asmaul Husna describes the beauty and greatness of the virtues of Allah the All Perfect. Many previous researches debated that Asmaul Husna gives more emphasis on the context of the Quran compared to researh on pattern extraction. Research on pattern extraction of Asmaul Husna has very little been conducted an needs to be improved. Hence, this research is meant to extract Allah's name "Al-Samii" in the Quran through the Makiyyah and madaniyyah surahs. This research uses a qualitative approach through content analysis on the verses in al-Quran. The result of the research shows the world "Al-Samii" and its breakdowns are repeated 52 times in the Quran with 22 times repeated in Makiyyah surahs and 30 times in madaniyyah surahs. The findings also show that the pairing of Allah's name "Al-Samii'" and " Al-'Aliim" is the highest compared to other pairings of 32 times, where 11 times repeated in Makkiyah Surah, and 21 times in Madaniyyah surah. Extraction of this pattern is significant to help people understand the essence of the teachings of Al-Quran, especially through the makkiy and madaniy theme.

Perkahwinan merupakan satu tanggungjawab dan amanah besar yang perlu dipikul oleh suami dan isteri. Tanggungjawab suami adalah lebih berat daripada tanggungjawab isteri meskipun ramai yang menganggap isteri lebih banyak beban berbanding suami. Namun begitu, hakikatnya di alam akhirat nanti suami mempunyai bebanan yang lebih berat lagi untuk dilaksanakan, di mana suami akan dipertanggungjawabkan atas segala yang berlaku ke atas isteri dan keluarganya. Justeru, kertas kerja ini akan membincangkan tentang hak yang wajib suami tunaikan kepada isteri yang terdapat di dalam al-Quran dan al-Sunnah, antaranya hak mahar, nafkah, komunikasi yang baik, hak mendapat bimbingan dan tunjuk ajar dan sebagainya. Kertas kerja ini bertujuan untuk memberi penjelasan mengenai hak wanita ke atas suami, lebih-lebih lagi pada era ini terdapat ramai wanita yang masih keliru tentang hak-hak yang wajib diperolehi daripada suaminya, contohnya hak mereka dalam bersuara, bekerja, hak terhadap harta sendiri dan harta sepencarian antara mereka dan sebagainya.

The transmission of Covid-19 at the end of 2019 startled the whole world. This pandemic changes the way and the pattern of life in each country. It has a direct impact on household management, since there are challenges resulting from each family members presence due to the Movement Control Order (MCO). This situation places pressure on women, specifically women who are in the workforce. Therefore, this paper will extract and gather the hadiths that can be used as a guide for household management based on the Sunnah perspective in facing the post-pandemic challenges of Covid-19. The research methodology applied in this article is qualitative approach by analysing hadiths of maqbul level (accepted). The findings of the study demonstrate that the guidance taught by the Prophet PBUH in household management is a significant approach to be practiced. It provides a clear concept of the role of wife and husband in household management.

The strife for equality between men and women is an ideology that has long been propagated by feminists. Among the equalities being propagated is women’s ability to use common sense at par with men to the extent that they proclaim some of the Qur’anic verses and hadiths related to women as irrelevant. To them, the prescribed texts seem to degrade women. To dispute this ideology, the classic and also the present scholars of Islam presented arguments to disprove the notion by the feminists. However, in rebutting this ideology, arguments based on the neuroscience perspective are yet to be discovered. Therefore, this article will incorporate the arguments from the perspectives of naqli (the Qur’an and Hadith) and neuroscience in terms of the different aspects of male and female brain function. This study employs qualitative methods through content analysis of Qur’anic texts, ahadith and neuroscience facts. The findings show that there are differences in the structure and function of the male and female brains. Consequently, there is no such ideology of equality due to the differences in the structure and function of the male and female brains that correspond to their roles and complement each other. It is hoped that this finding will enhance the public understanding that Islam glorifies women and that their obligations as caliphs on this earth are in accordance with their nature, either from the biological, psychological and emotional regards.

ABSTRACT: There seems to be lack of academic papers trying to set out a concept of sama’(hearing) verses ontology. Hence this study wishes to fill in the gap by describing a new concept of Quran ontology for the sama’verses from an existing data. This study also aims to highlight the unique features of sama’verses by using data extraction based on ontology processes. In doing so, this study analyzes every single feature and gives it an appropriate interpretation. In addition to Quran, this study uses all sources of both classic Islamic and modern science literatures as part of references to enhance existing methodology and findings. The result from this study is applicable to be used for ear, nose and throat (ENT) medical health and important to encapsulate the benefit of ontology in representing an authentic information from Quran. Al-Quran adalah kitab suci yang diturunkan pada 15 kurun yang lalu. Setiap huruf, perkataan, ayat dan surah di dalamnya mengandungi pola yang sempurna dan tersusun indah. Setiap pola dalam al-Quran mempunyai makna yang signifikan untuk dikaji. Secara umumnya kajian mengenai pola al-Quran telah banyak dijalankan. Walaubagaimanapun tiada kajian spesifik mengenai pola berdasarkan perkataan dalam al-Quran khususnya perkataan basar. Tambahan pula terjemahan al-Quran sedia ada didapati tidak mengambil kira aspek pemaknaan secara kontekstual sesuatu perkataan dalam terjemahan mereka. Justeru, kajian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji pola perkataan basar dalam surah al-Isra’, menganalisis makna perkataan basar dan mengklasifikasikannya berdasarkan pendekatan tematik terhadap makna konteks ayat. Kertas kerja ini merupakan kertas kerja konseptual dengan menggunakan kaedah kualitatif serta kaedah analisis kandungan berdasarkan pendekatan tematik. Hasil dapatan kajianmendapati dalam surah al-Isra’terdapat 8 pengulangan perkataan “basar”. Dapatan kajian ini juga mendapati bahawasetiap perkataan basara mempunyai makna yang berbeza berdasarkan derivasi dan makna konteks setiap ayat. Pemahaman khusus sebegini perlu dikaji secara lebih meluas terhadap perkataan yang ada di dalam al-Quran, lebih-lebih lagi terjemahan al-Quran sedia ada tidak mengambil kira pendekatan ini dalam penterjemahan mereka.

Humans require food to survive. Plants are one of the sources of human food. The concept of plants based on the Quran is explored in various interesting themes, but there is still room for research on this topic, such as the study about the concept of plant-based food based on Imam Al-Razi in Tafsīr Mafātīhul Ghayb. This tafsīr was chosen because it broadens the naqli and aqli aspects that can be used in modern scientific studies, particularly in the fields of nutritional science and medicine. Thus, based on Tafsīr Mafātīhul Ghayb, this study will examine verse 99 of surah al-An‘am. Tafsīr Mafātīhul Ghayb is regarded as a useful reference in the study of plant sources in the food according to the Quran. This qualitative study used the content analysis method and thematic analysis on surah al-An‘am verse 99. According to the study’s findings, this verse describes the concept of plant-based food by incorporating six themes: plants come from water, green elements of plants, the hierarchy of plant-based food, plant category, fruit ripening phase, and Allah SWT as the Creator of plants.

Dalam ilmu linguistik moden, Teori Medan Makna diperkenalkan oleh Jost Trier pada 1930-an seterusnya berkembang dalam kalangan sarjana Barat yang lain. Ia melibatkan pengkategorian perkataan-perkataan yang mempunyai makna yang hampir sama dalam satu kumpulan. Namun, sumbangan sarjana Islam kurang diketengahkan dalam perbincangan teori ini berbanding dengan ilmuan Barat. Artikel ini membincangkan sumbangan para sarjana Islam terhadap teori ini secara kronologi sehingga awal abad ke-21. Kaedah Systematic Literature Review (SLR) digunapakai dalam kajian ini. Hasil kajian mendapati bahawa sarjana Islam telah mempelopori teori ini secara tidak langsung lebih awal daripada sarjana Barat, bahkan penggunaannya telah luas dalam kalangan mereka. Perkembangan Teori Medan Makna dalam kalangan sarjana Islam boleh dibahagikan kepada empat fasa utama, iaitu : penulisan persuratan (al-rasail), penulisan kamus berdasarkan tema-tema tertentu, kajian pensejarahan, dan aplikasi teori dalam kajian al-Quran dan Hadis. Perkembangan kajian sarjana Islam dalam keempat-empat fasa ini bertujuan untuk menjaga kelangsungan dan kelestarian bahasa sekaligus mengukuhkan bidang perkamusan, dan membudayakan penggunaan bahasa yang tepat dalam kalangan penyair dan penulis, serta penutur bukan asli. Teori ini juga telah mula diaplikasikan pada teks al-Quran dan Hadis untuk meningkatkan kefahaman terhadap kedua-dua sumber tersebut. Ini membuktikan bahawa sarjana Islam mempunyai sumbangan dan perkembangan teori ini.

Abstract: The converts (mualaf) are people who return back to Islam. As they are new to Islamic religion, they still need constant guidance and teaching, especially the Islamic teachings and Quranic understanding. Therefore, da'wah approach to this group, should be in accordance with the methods that suit their current situation and environment. Hence, the objective of this study is based on two main elements 1) to identify the factors of the Muslim Chinese society in general; and 2) study their learning resources of the al-Quran. This paper also discusses the history of migration as well as the migration factors of Chinese society from the Mainland China to Malaysia in general. In addition, researchers also listed some other research findings: the time period they took to learn Islam before converting to Islam, the challenges faced after their conversion and learning techniques used to study the al-Quran. This study uses a qualitative approach by analyzing documents and conducting semi-structured interview to a group of respondents in order to obtain premier data. Interview sessions were conducted to respondents who were selected from da'wah organizations in three states. The findings show that among the main factors of their conversion are due to the interaction with other believers as well as family members who have embraced Islam, and some of them converts by marriage factor. In the meantime, majority of them studied al-Quran through religious classes organized by da'wah institutions via Iqra 'books as a beginning and trying to understand the Quranic verse through the interpretation book. The time taken before embracing Islam and the challenges faced after the conversion was also explained. Hence, this study is expected to identify the problems and disadvantages in the effort to help these converts to Islam. Keywords: Cina Muslim Society, Mualaf, Learning al-Quran

This study aims to investigate the translation of one of the Devine Attributes in Quran, the word Baseer whether its translation achieves optimal relevance or otherwise. It employed a qualitative method using content analysis technique based on Relevance Theory, which is basically applied in communication field, in analyzing the translation of the word 'baseer' in surah al-Isra’ to investigate how the meaning of Baseer is rendered in in three well-known Quran translations in English language by Abdel Haleem, Pickthall and George Sale. This study shows that there are differences in the translation of Baseer among the three target texts. If viewed from the point of Relevance Theory, most of its translations do not achieve optimal relevance, because the meanings given by the translators do not support the meaning meant by the nature of Allah. This indicates that absolute equivalence could never been achieved when translating specific words of the Quran and in this study, the translation of Devine Attributes sometimes does not achieve optimal relevance. Therefore, the translator may select the closest natural equivalence of the meaning of the attribute.

Melayari kehidupan rumahtangga bukanlah semudah yang dijangkakan. Barangkali pelbagai onak dan duri yang akan ditempuhi sepanjang melayari bahtera kehidupan bersama suami isteri. Justeru, bagi memastikan objektif perkahwinan yang inginkan mawaddah dan sakinah, konsep ta’awun amat perlu diberi penekanan. Kertas kerja ini akan mengupas konsep ta’awun dalam rumahtangga sebagaimana yang telah disebut oleh Nabi SAW. Kertas kerja ini akan mengekstrak dan menghimpunkan semua hadis berkaitan dengan ta’awunsecara umum. Pengektrakan hadis ini akan memberi tumpuan kepada lafazta’awunyang terdapat dalam hadis. Pengekstrakan ini akan menggunakan kata kunci perkataan عاون. Seterusnya kupasan dan penjelasan bagi hadis-hadis yang telah diekstrak akan dijadikan sebagai asas dalam merangka konsep ta’awundalam kehidupan berumahtangga. Kajian ini berbentuk kualitatif dengan menggunakan kaedah analisis tematik. Dapatan kajian menunjukkan bahawa konsep ta’awunberdasarkan pendekatan nabi SAW adalah wajar diterapkan dalam kehidupan berumahtangga kerana konsep ta’awunini meliputi dimensi yang luas bukan sahaja terhaskepada kerjasama dalam pengurusan rumahtangga tetapi ia melibatkan ta’wun dalam pengurusan emosi dan perasaan.

Makanan merupakan sumber nutrien utama bagi manusia. Pelbagai sumber makanan dijelaskan dalam al-Quran khususnya dalam menentukan halal haram sesuatu makanan. Namun, dengan kepesatan teknologi dan industri pemakanan masa kini menyebabkan status sesuatu makanan diragui seperti isu penggunaan makanan sintetik dan bermacam-macam lagi. Perkara ini membahayakan kesihatan individu dan mengelirukan masyarakat. Justeru, kajian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis kriteria halal dan haram dalam al-Quran berdasarkan Tafsīr Mafātīhul Ghayb yang menjelaskan kriteria halal dan haram makanan seterusnya menyingkap hikmah di sebalik kriteria tersebut. Hasil kajian menunjukkan terdapat dua kriteria dalam menjelaskan ciri-ciri halal dan haram makanan berdasarkan pentafsiran Tafsīr Mafātīhul Ghayb iaitu kriteria dalam aspek kebersihan dan kriteria dalam aspek hak pemilikan. Kriteria dalam aspek kebersihan bertujuan untuk menghindarkan pemakan daripada kemudaratan khususnya dari sudut kesihatan dan kriteria dalam aspek hak pemilikan bertujuan untuk menghalang daripada berlakunya kezaliman ke atas hak orang lain. Kajian ini penting dalam memberi penerangan kepada masyarakat tentang panduan pemakanan berdasarkan al-Quran di samping mendedahkan hikmah di sebalik sesuatu pensyariatan ditetapkan.

Microplastics-based water pollution is a rising global issue, discussed by many parties. However, the existing research rarely focuses on solving the root of the issue and suggesting solutions by introducing other alternatives to minimize the usage of plastics. Plus, the current discussion and findings focused on the physical part, ignoring human values and the spiritual elements. The negative impacts of environmental microplastics proved by laboratory research and scientific data create an urgency to propose a comprehensive approach by considering all life elements to solve the core problem. Islamic teaching emphasizes holistic discussion by positioning Qur’an as the main source of knowledge and understanding. Therefore, this research collects the Qur’anic data related to the microplastics issue and It involves hermeneutics and content analysis methods in collecting and presenting the data. At the end of the discussion, integrating revealed and non-revealed knowledge results in a holistic discussion on solving microplastic-based water pollution based on the understanding of human values mentioned in the Qur’an. The Islamic practice of living by understanding three concepts of rights, “huquq Allah,” “huquq al ‘ibad” and “huquq al ‘alam” helps in controlling human actions to not pollute the nature-maintaining a positive ecosystem.

The inimitability of the Quran has been regarded by Muslim as a vindication of the prophethood of Muhammad. The conventions of its miraculous nature are divided into few dimensions including scientific miracle, mathematical, legal, revealing the Ghaybiyyat (unseen world) and acoustical elements. While each elements has its general emblem and characteristic, acoustic miracle of the Quran has its own insignia. It was known with different terminology, such as phonology of the Quran, phonetic miracle and rhythm of al-Quran. Exploring the acoustical nature of the Quran, scholars of the 21st century have advancing various methods and researches in analysing its miraculous nature. Thus, the present study aims to analyse studies conducted on the acoustical elements in the Quran from 2000 to 2015. The researcher, in this study, employed Systematic Literature Review (SLR) as its main methodological tool with the adaptation of PRISMA technique. The result shows that there are three major patterns in the study of acoustical element of the Quran, which could be concluded as: (1) the study on phonetic element in the Quran that was embedded in its pronunciation, specific phonic characteristic and structural wording, (2) analysis on the organisation, repetition and rhyme at the end of verses and (3) the exploration on interrelation between the meaning of the Quran and its phonetic element. Indeed, this study is a prolegomenon in which would clear the path for further exploration in interdisciplinary or interdisciplinary studies.
