The ultimate target of this study is to point out the method of the Holy Quran and the prophetic approach (Sunnah) in taking apart the backwardness of the Ummah through studying the worldview of Shaykh ‘Abd al-Salām Yāsīn in his magnificent books which is related to this issue. This study relies on the analytical descriptive approach which depends on the reading material related to this issue through the books of Syeikh Abd al-Salam Yasin. This study at the end shows the factors of backwardness, its indicators and the divine treatment to eliminate it. We find ‘Abd al-Salām Yāsīn fully rely on the Holy Quran and Sunnah in his endeavour to take apart the backwardness of the Ummah. He refers to the Quran and Sunnah in dealing with everything related backwardness, including the definition of backwardness. In conclusion, the Holy Quran and Sunnah are the main sources that he had referred to through his ideas and worldview. He never put behind the Holy Quran and Sunnah but take them stronger as the ultimate resources in everything. Furthermore, all his terminologies taken from the Quran and Sunnah such as consultation (shurā), just (adl) and perfection or excellence (ihsān).
