Publication Antecedents and outcomes of interpersonal influences and the role of acculturation: The case of young British-Muslims(Elsevier Science Inc, 2014) ;Jamal, AShukor, SAPrior research considers antecedents and outcomes of interpersonal influence without consideration of acculturation. Data collected from 222 young British-Muslims using focus groups, in-depth interviews and questionnaires identifies significant antecedents and outcomes concluding that self-congruity, clothing conformity, need for uniqueness and modesty are major contributors to susceptibility to interpersonal influence. Acculturation moderates the effects of self congruity and susceptibility to interpersonal influence. The paper discusses implications for clothing retailers suggesting that self-congruity, conformity and modesty require closer attention to develop effective promotion and product strategies. Publication Deforestation and Haze in Malaysia: Status of Corporate Responsibility and Law Governance(Future Acad, 2016) ;Kamaruddin, H ;Khalid, RM ;Supaat, DI ;Shukor, SAHashim, NMalaysia is endowed with abundant forest resources that covers about 59.5% of total land area. For most part of Malaysia's economy, much importance is placed on the contribution of forest in agronomy development. Due to apparent large scale land clearing that brought grave consequences to the environment, various initiatives to protect forests from misuse, abuse and overexploitation of forest resources, mainly by plantation companies, were implemented. The attribution of haze caused by burning of forests further pushed for appropriate policies and laws to protect atmospheric quality in Malaysia. Local laws on preventing deforestation and haze are mainly provided in the Environmental Quality Act 1974 and National Forestry Act 1984. Efforts to resolve issues of deforestation and its environmental impacts on air quality should re-emphasize the benefits of practicing Sustainable Forest Management (SFM) to limit environmental impacts of forest activities through continuous participation and commitment from stakeholders, such as the plantation companies. The penalties for deforestation offences in current Malaysian laws whilst it is punitive, should be improved by imposing an environmental tax on polluter companies as a corrective and rehabilitative tool, thus affirming the 'polluter pays principle'. Environmental tax law could be utilized, for example, in restoring the affected forest area to its natural and original state. The categories of persons contributing to the Environmental Fund should be reviewed to address impacts from deforestation and haze. The study attempts to enhance and strengthen the role of companies in their corporate legal responsibilities towards deforestation and haze issues in Malaysia. Publication Muslim Attitude Towards Participation In Cash Waqf: Antecedents And Consequences(Univ Malaysia Sarawak, Fac Economics & Business, 2017) ;Shukor, SA ;Anwar, IF ;Aziz, SASabri, HWaqf creates great benefits not only for the endower but also for the whole society. Endowment of waqf is generally known in terms of porperty but little attention given to endowment of cash waqf. This paper aims to investigate antecedents and consequences of Muslim attitude towards participation in cash waqf in Malaysia. The findings of this paper are based on 386 samples. Descriptive analysis, exploratory factor analysis and regression analysis are used to analyse the data. The results indicate that individual religiosity, trust in awqaf institutions and convenience to endow are antecedents of Muslim attitude towards participation in cash waqf, which consequently leads to individual intention to participate in the practice. The study provides a useful source of information to related parties for instance the waqf institution and Islamic regulatory body in executing effective startegy to promote cash waqf as well as reinforcement of systematic collection procedures that can benefit the community. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings

Among the vibrant development in the Malaysian legal education is the assimilation of Shariah education in legal education. Up to date, only International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) and Islamic Science University of Malaysia (USIM) offer Shariah education and legal education with an objective of enabling the graduates to practice in both fields in Malaysia. This is an added value for the graduates which contributes positively to the Malaysian need of graduates having both qualities of Shariah and Law. The challenge in providing such education is unique. Not only must the institution ensure adequate and appropriate curriculum structure, it must also provide capable educators in both fields and fulfill other requirements. This paper adopts qualitative study involving interviews of experts, collection and analyses of data from the universities, Malaysian Qualification Agency (MQA) and Ministry of Higher Education of Malaysia. It also involves doctrinal analysis of the corpus of knowledge on Shariah and law education. The outcome of the paper shows the need of legal and Shariah education in Malaysia and describes the running of the programmes offered by this nature. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Publication Susceptibility To Interpersonal Influence Among Young Adult Muslims(Univ Sultan Zainal Abidin, 2019) ;Shukor, SAOmar, NAConsumer susceptibility to interpersonal influence is a general trait that varies across persons and affects a number of consumer behaviour. This study assessed the similarities and differences in terms of consumer susceptibility to interpersonal influence between young adult Muslim living in a Muslim country (i.e. Malaysia) and non-Muslim country (i.e. Britain). To investigate the differences in susceptibility to interpersonal influence between young adult Muslim in Malaysia and Britain, the Consumer Susceptibility to Interpersonal Influence Scale was used. A total of 175 and 217 completed survey questionnaires were collected from Malaysian Muslim and British Muslim sample, respectively. Data collected were analysed using exploratory factor analysis and independent t-test. Findings suggest that irrespective of group, there were two-factor dimensions underlying an individual's susceptibility to interpersonal influence; namely normative and informational influence. In comparison to British Muslim, Malaysian Muslims were more susceptible to normative influence. This finding may suggest the importance of group approval among Malaysian Muslims' decision-making. While most Muslim consumers' lifestyle, dietary and financial rules are determined by the Islamic faith, findings from this study suggest that they are far from homogeneity. This study reveals that Muslim consumer from Malaysia and Britain demonstrate differences in terms of their susceptibility to interpersonal influence which consequently will affect marketing practitioners around the world on how to serve their relatively young Muslim consumers from different countries.
