Publication Antecedents and outcomes of interpersonal influences and the role of acculturation: The case of young British-Muslims(2014) ;Jamal A. ;Shukor S.A. ;Faculty of Economics and Muamalat ;Cardiff UniversityUniversiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM)Prior research considers antecedents and outcomes of interpersonal influence without consideration of acculturation. Data collected from 222 young British-Muslims using focus groups, in-depth interviews and questionnaires identifies significant antecedents and outcomes concluding that self-congruity, clothing conformity, need for uniqueness and modesty are major contributors to susceptibility to interpersonal influence. Acculturation moderates the effects of self congruity and susceptibility to interpersonal influence. The paper discusses implications for clothing retailers suggesting that self-congruity, conformity and modesty require closer attention to develop effective promotion and product strategies. The needs of VW for such measures have been emphasized in cases and literature. The aim of this study is to examine the extent to which the law and procedures are put into practice on the protection of VW in Malaysia, particularly on the use of live TV-link and screen from the perspective of those responsible for implementation. The main aspect of this paper is the challenges in the system faced by the practitioners and VW in the manifestation of the law. The study found that the use of live TV-link and screen is subject to a number of limitations and weaknesses that might depreciate support and protection for child witnesses and victims. Publication The Concept and Challenges of Islamic Pawn Broking (Ar-Rahnu)(2013) ;Hisham S. ;Shukor S.A. ;Salwa A.B.U. ;Jusoff K. ;Faculty of Economics and Muamalat ;Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM)Perdana School of Science, Technology and Innovation Policy (UTM Perdana School)The introduction of Islamic pawn broking (Ar-Rahnu) in Malaysia is seen as a new micro credit instrument. This paper aims to provide a review on Ar-Rahnu's concept and challenges faced by Islamic pawn shops in Malaysia. The study employs library and archive research to achieve the objectives of the paper. Islamic pawn broking consists of four basic concepts namely Qardhul Hasan, Ar-Rahnu, Al-Wadi'ah and Al-Ujrah. The Islamic pawn broking have several advantages over conventional pawn broking because it provides a cheaper way to obtain financing and is free from interest. In addition, assets pawned are guaranteed to be kept safely and there is a fair practice in auctioning and bidding. In addition, Ar-Rahnu also helps finance educational needs and provides capital to small businesses and entrepreneurs. It implies that this instrument will help the community to increase economic capability of their families. The customary land in Negeri Sembilan assumes exceptional characteristics that make certain transaction and claim against the land to be difficult or cannot be executed. The aim of this study is to analyze the position of a customary land in marriage and the claim against the land upon divorce using legal analysis method. It first discusses the concept of matrimonial property from legal and Islamic perspectives and the judicial application of legal provisions on the subject matter. The main dimension of this paper is the claim of matrimonial property on customary land. Publication Developing Scales for Measuring Religiosity in the Context of Consumer Research(2013) ;Shukor S.A. ;Jamal A. ;Faculty of Economics and Muamalat ;Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM)Cardiff Business School, Cardiff UniversityReligiosity refers to the degree to which a person adheres to his or her religious values, beliefs and practices and uses them in daily life. This paper aims to develop scales of measuring religiosity for Muslims in the context of consumer research. The development of the scale was based on two phases of data collection: firstly, a qualitative phase which involved interview method; and secondly, a quantitative phase, which was implemented via a survey questionnaire. A total number of 222 completed questionnaires was received and analysed using Structural Equation Modelling (SEM). Results of the study indicated that five items formed a unidimensional scale of Religiosity scale. It can be concluded that measurement of a Muslim's religiosity should include two important aspects including relationship with Allah and relationship with other people. The development of religiosity scale will aid both managers and academics in better understanding the role of religiosity in consumer research. Publication Effects Of Susceptibilty To Interpersonal Influence On Clothing Benefits Sought(Univ Utara Malaysia Press, 2012)Shukor S.A.Susceptibility to interpersonal influence is the tendency of an individual to be influenced by other people in their decision-making. Prior research suggests that susceptibility to interpersonal influence affects various numbers of consumer behaviours. This paper aims to investigate the effects of susceptibility to interpersonal influence on clothing benefits sought, which are: uniqueness, conformity, self-congruity, social status and modesty. Data for the present study was collected through web-based and drop off questionnaires. 222 completed questionnaires were received and analysed using the Structural Equation Modelling (SEM). Results of this study show that susceptibility to interpersonal influence is positively related to uniqueness, conformity, self-congruity and social status. A model with empirical testing that fills the gap between team cohesion and team performance. This study presents variables: team cohesion, transformative interaction capability, and team agility that encourage to improve team performance. The research questionnaire was distributed to supervisors, managers, directors, and strategic staffs involved in the new product development team. Publication Muslim attitude towards participation in cash WAQF: Antecedents and consequences(Universiti Malaysia Sarawak, 2017) ;Shukor S.A. ;Anwar I.F. ;Shukor S.A.Sabri H.Waqf creates great benefits not only for the endower but also for the whole society. Endowment of waqf is generally known in terms of porperty but little attention given to endowment of cash waqf. This paper aims to investigate antecedents and consequences of Muslim attitude towards participation in cash waqf in Malaysia. The findings of this paper are based on 386 samples. Descriptive analysis, exploratory factor analysis and regression analysis are used to analyse the data. The results indicate that individual religiosity, trust in awqaf institutions and convenience to endow are antecedents of Muslim attitude towards participation in cash waqf, which consequently leads to individual intention to participate in the practice. The study provides a useful source of information to related parties for instance the waqf institution and Islamic regulatory body in executing effective startegy to promote cash waqf as well as reinforcement of systematic collection procedures that can benefit the community. � 2017, Universiti Malaysia Sarawak. Undeniably, the efforts taken by all stakeholders are essential in materializing the future and dream of a peaceful country. Since its independence, Malaysia has been struggling to maintain the unity and integration of the three main ethnics, the Malays, the Chinese and the Indians. Matters pertaining to media especially publications of printed presses are strictly supervised by the Ministry of Home Affairs. However, with the inception of the Internet, regulating content of the Internet might be impossible for the law makers. This paper examines how the emergence of social networking website such as Facebook, MySpace and even Tweeting have been misused by irresponsible Internet users in Malaysia. Spinning the web of hate online is like spreading virus to the netizens and yet, its impact if it is not well tackled by members of society, it might spark serious problem to the unity and harmony of ethnics in Malaysia. Next, this paper examines how law responds to problems arose on the Internet. Finally, this paper suggests that supervision and monitoring content of the Internet which promote hate online might be challenging but such problem needs to be tackled by the authorities with extra vigilant and full coordination with all authorities. � 2015, Canadian Center of Science and Education. Publication Trust in takaful agents: antecedents and consequences(Emerald Group Publishing Ltd., 2020) ;Shukor S.A. ;Faculty of Economics and MuamalatUniversiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM)Purpose: The purpose of this study is to explain factors contributing towards the development of trust in takaful agents and its consequences. Design/methodology/approach: A total of 182 completed survey questionnaires have been collected. Descriptive analysis, exploratory factor analysis and structural equation modeling analysis are used to analyse the data. Findings: The result indicates that clients' trust in takaful agents is influenced by the agents� communication and expertise as well as the image of the takaful operator represented by them. Also, trust in takaful agents affects clients� loyalty and intention to continue service with the existing agent. Practical implications: This paper makes contributions by briefly discussing several recommendations to increase clients' trust in takaful agents. Originality/value: This research paper is related to takaful agent-client relationships and can be used to formulate appropriate marketing strategies for building stronger relationships. 2020, Emerald Publishing Limited.
