Education holds power to ensure self and nation development. Various fields of knowledge that have been learned are then written and recorded on various medium called manuscripts. The manuscripts are then preserved by the authority to protect its contents and the historical aspects in it. However, there are still many Malay Islamic manuscript that have not been explored and reviewed including Kitab Al-Adab MSS4291 which contains some educational thoughts in it mainly about manners in Islam due to the difficulty in understanding the content of the manuscript as most of it has not yet been transliterated. Given these circumstances, it is crucial to study and analyze the educational aspect in kitab Al-Adab MSS4291 along with its background history. A qualitative method which is content analysis and codicological analysis was employed in this study. The physical manuscript located at National Library Malaysia was transliterated and analysed manually. The findings reveal the background history of MSS4291 Kitab Al-Adab as well as its educational thoughts in its poem. Hopefully, this research can give a thorough understanding on manners and education during the Malay Archipelago and contribute to the growth in manuscript research field.
