Publication Determination Of Polysaccharide From 'Cendawan Busut' Crude Water Extract(Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia, 2021-02-18) ;Ahmad Nabil Eshamudin, ;Mohd Redza Riquelme Nisham, ;Srivani Sellathoroe, ;Ehwan Ngadi,Rahayu AhmadTermitomyces is a genus of edible mushrooms commonly consumed in Africa and Asia among the mushroom collected from the wild. Several species of Termitomyces are commonly used for health promotion and treatment of illness. In this study, Termitomyces sp. Mushroom or locally known as 'cendawan busut' were isolated from Kuala Pilah. Negeri Sembilan, Malaysia. It was called as 'cendawan busut' because Termitomyces mushroom grow as symbionts in the termite nest, where they produce various enzyme to help termites digest lignocellulosic substrate. The bioactive compound (polysaccharide) was extracted from the mushroom fruiting bodies using hot-water extraction method. Fourier-Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR) analysis was carried out to confirm the presences of polysaccharide compound in the mushroom fruiting bodies extracts. Result demonstrated that polysaccharides are present in Termitomyces sp. mushroom fruiting bodies extract as it was compared with standard laminarin polysaccharide. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Publication Extraction And Antimicrobial Properties Of Polysaccharide From Pleurotus Eryngii(Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia, 2021-02-18) ;Aina Samsudin, ;Nurul Ain Amanina Dzulkifli, ;Mohamad Azani Abd Khadir Jalani, ;Srivani Sellathoroe,Rahayu AhmadMacrofungi have long been used as a valuable food source and as traditional medicines around the world since ancient times especially in Japan and China. It was known that both fruiting body and the mycelium of mushrooms contain compounds with wide-ranging antimicrobial activity. In this study, hot water and cold-water extraction process were carried out to obtain polysaccharide from the fruiting bodies of Pleurotus eryngii mushroom. The crude polysaccharide extract obtained from the extraction was furthered evaluated for the antimicrobial activity. The antimicrobial activity was evaluated according to the disk diffusion method using Eschirichia coli (E.coli) bacteria. The hot water polysaccharide extracts were shown to inhibit the growth of E.coli bacteria and proved that it has an antimicrobial properties
