Publication Strategic Development of Production Sub-Unitin Beef Cattle Companies in Negeri Sembilan, Malaysia(Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia, 2023-10) ;Tahani Binti Badrul MunirUmmi Salwa Binti Ahmad Bustamam [Supervisor]This study examines the strategic development of beef cattle companies in Negeri Sembilan, Malaysia. The researcher’s decision to conduct this study was based on the Self-Sufficiency Level (SSL) for meat commodities, which was reported at only 23.69 % in 2020. This percentage is considered as quite low compared to the SSL set in the National Agriculture Policies (NAP 2011-2020), which was 32 %. This study seeks to identify the strengths and weaknesses that exist within the company that can create opportunities, and face the threats that hit beef cattle companies, and to understand the competitive advantage in terms of internal resources owned by the companies by applying the Resources-Based View (RBV) as the underpinning theory of this study. This research used the qualitative case study method based on the Merriam’s tradition as the research design. The manager of Pusat Ternakan Haiwan Jelai, Gemas and the owner of Syarikat Perniagaan Haji Budin, Pedas became the research informants that met the requirements as the typical respondent criteria. The researcher uses primary data (were obtained from semi-structured interviews) and secondary data (were obtained from statistical sources, government publications, reports, scientific papers, including data from previous research on livestock production in Malaysia) to answer the research questions. The audit trail strategy becomes the strategy to test the reliability of the research, while to test the validity of the research, the members’ check strategy or respondent validation were used. The weighted score Internal Factor Evaluation (IFE) Matrix for the Pusat Ternakan Haiwan Jelai, Gemas is 3.05 and External Factor Evaluation (EFE) Matrix is 2.64, while weighted score IFE matrix for the Syarikat Perniagaan Haji Budin, Pedas is 2.70 and EFE matrix is 2.64. The resources owned by the Pusat Ternakan Haiwan Jelai, Gemas and Syarikat Perniagaan Haji Budin, Pedas can be identified from: financial, physical, organizational, human, innovation, and reputation assets. Although different from each other, these resources can be stated as a competitive advantage. The need for improvement in the fields of organization, innovation, and technology for both companies so that they can still maintain a competitive advantage or achieve sustainable competitive advantage. This study contributes in terms of the emerging economic case from the perspective of key stakeholders, both private and public companies through regional economic profiles and identifies the competitive advantages held by the two livestock companies in Negeri Sembilan, Malaysia based on the Resource-Based View (RBV) theory.
