The correlation between the 5S practices and homes is very significant. 5S is a system of quality management in the workplace housekeeping that originates in Japan. It is an acronym for the 5 key words with the initial letter 'S' in the Japanese language comprising Seiri, Seiton, Seiso, Seiketsu and Shitsuke. Meanwhile, a home is considered a fundamental part of environment and closely related to the quality of life. It is not only seen as a physical space, but it has become the cradle of social interaction and tranquility of community building. In Islam, the dwellings are substantial parts contributing to certain standard of quality and happiness in this life. This paper aims to discuss the practice of 5S and how it is related to the dwelling's environment according to the Islamic view. The significance of the study is to assess the 5S practices in the dwelling's environment. In addition, this research aims at ensuring that Islamic practices have also emphasized such approach despite having the 5S concept branding taking place in Japan. This is a qualitative study, whereby data collectionis done through library research. The discussion will be based on analysis of data inductively involving Islamic texts of the Quran and Sunnah. This description reveals that Islam prescribes a holistic guide about the dwellings. Recommendation of 5S practices in the dwelling's environment is not alienated but in line with the daily fiqh itself. Additionally, this article can prove the need for a practical 5S practices at the dwellings apart from the usual discussion on the practice merely focusing on organizational management and workplace culture.

The dwelling house is part of the basic needs of human life. In Islam, the designation of a place as a dwelling house has its importance. The dwelling house is not only seen as a sanctuary for oneself and his property, but it is also significant in providing space for privacy. This paper aims to discuss privacy related to a dwelling house in Islamic jurisprudence. The discussion will focus on the importance of the privacy rules for a dwelling house to guide the parties involved in housing development. The type of research is qualitative with a socio-historical approach. The results indicate that Islam provides a balance between social life and the need to be alone. The principles of privacy for a dwelling house not only show the security of shariah objectives, but they also guide the construction industry with divine guidance in sustainable human development.

Qawl al-sahabi, a disputed source of Islamic law among Muslim jurists, functions at explaining the rulings based on independent legal reasoning (ijtihad) of Prophet Muhammad??s (p.b.u.h.) companions. This is due to the fact that the companions are those who belong to the early generations who witnessed the gradual process of revelation onto Prophet Muhammad (p.b.u.h.) apart from being the first recipients of Islamic teachings. However, the authoritative legal reasoning is very much focused on only a few number of distinguished companions, specifically those who were frequently referred to by others. In this aspect, one should not forget Zayd b. Thabit r.a, a personality with acknowledged credibility and expertise. Thus, this paper aims to identify this outstanding gift of deriving ijtihad by Zayd b. Thabit r.a. as a sample of qawl al-sahabi. Apart from that, this paper also aims at proving the expertise of Zayd b. Thabit r.a. in fara??id as recognized by Prophet Muhammad (p.b.u.h.) in one of His (p.b.u.h.) hadiths. The discussion will also deal with certain leading and known faraid cases with distinctive calculative methods.
