Publication 2-hydroxyethyl Cellulose-ammonium Thiocyanate Solid Biopolymer Electrolytes: Ionic Conductivity And Dielectric Studies(Penerbit UMT, 2022) ;Muhamad Amirullah Ramlli ;Mohd Ikmar Nizam Mohamad IsaHilmun KamarudinThere is demand for application of polymer materials in electrochemical devices, especially natural polymers, because of their superiority in mechanical integrity, affordability and biodegradability. In this work, solid biopolymer electrolyte (SBEs) comprising 2-hydroxyethyl cellulose (2-HEC) doped with different weight percentage of ammonium thiocyanate, NH4 SCN (0 – 44 wt.%) were prepared using a facile solution casting technique. The effects of NH4 SCN on ionic conductivity and dielectric properties of SBEs were investigated using electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). The ionic conductivity recorded at room temperature showed massive improvement for pure 2-HEC from the value of 5.93 x 10-8 S cm-1 to 1.16 ×10-4 S cm-1, comprising 36 wt.% NH4 SCN. Meanwhile, at elevated temperatures, the ionic conductivity revealed the Arrhenius behaviour, where it increased proportional to the temperatures. In addition, by introducing NH4 SCN content as a proton donor, it also effectively reduced the activation energy of the SBEs, which further support enhancing the ionic conductivity. In dielectric permittivity study, the εr and εi increased as the NH4 SCN content increased, revealing the non-Debye dependency of the SBEs, which indicates that the SBEs are ionic conductors. The addition of the optimum value of NH4 SCN content showed good characteristic for electrochemical devices applications.2 88 - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings

Publication 2D to 3D fusion of echocardiography and cardiac CT for TAVR and TAVI image guidance(Springer Berlin Heidelberg, 2017) ;Azira Binti Khalil ;Amir Faisal ;Khin Wee Lai ;Siew Cheok NgYih Miin LiewThis study proposed a registration framework to fuse 2D echocardiography images of the aortic valve with preoperative cardiac CT volume. The registration facilitates the fusion of CT and echocardiography to aid the diagnosis of aortic valve diseases and provide surgical guidance during transcatheter aortic valve replacement and implantation. The image registration framework consists of two major steps: temporal synchronization and spatial registration. Temporal synchronization allows time stamping of echocardiography time series data to identify frames that are at similar cardiac phase as the CT volume. Spatial registration is an intensity-based normalized mutual information method applied with pattern search optimization algorithm to produce an interpolated cardiac CT image that matches the echocardiography image. Our proposed registration method has been applied on the short-axis “Mercedes Benz” sign view of the aortic valve and long-axis parasternal view of echocardiography images from ten patients. The accuracy of our fully automated registration method was 0.81 ± 0.08 and 1.30 ± 0.13 mm in terms of Dice coefficient and Hausdorff distance for short-axis aortic valve view registration, whereas for long-axis parasternal view registration it was 0.79 ± 0.02 and 1.19 ± 0.11 mm, respectively. This accuracy is comparable to gold standard manual registration by expert. There was no significant difference in aortic annulus diameter measurement between the automatically and manually registered CT images. Without the use of optical tracking, we have shown the applicability of this technique for effective fusion of echocardiography with preoperative CT volume to potentially facilitate catheter-based surgery.3 - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Publication 3-D Printed Air Substrates for the Design and Fabrication of RF Components(IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Inc.), 2017) ;Mohd Ifwat Mohd Ghazali , ;Saranraj Karuppuswami , ;Amanpreet Kaur ,Premjeet ChahalThis paper presents the fabrication and characterization of radio frequency (RF) and microwave passive structures on an air substrate using additive manufacturing (3-D printing). The air substrate is realized by 3-D printing RF structures in two separate pieces and snapped together face to face using a LEGO-like process. Spacers printed on the periphery provide the desired air substrate thickness. Metal patterning on nonplanar printed plastic structures is carried out using a damascene-like process. Various RF structures such as low dispersion transmission line, T-line resonator, high-gain patch antenna, slot antenna, and cavity resonator are demonstrated using this process. Good performance is achieved; for example, measured 50-Ω transmission line shows low loss of 0.17 dB/cm at 4 GHz, and a patch antenna (center frequency of 4.5 GHz) shows gain and bandwidth of 7.6 dB and 0.2 GHz, respectively. Details of both measured and simulation results are presented.2 - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Publication 3-D Printed Embedded Passive Harmonic Sensor Tag as Markers for Buried Assets Localization(IEEE, 2019) ;M. I. M. Ghazali, ;S. KaruppuswamiP. ChahalIn this article, a fully 3-D printed embedded passive harmonic sensor tag with improved read range and better clutter rejection is presented for detecting assets located underground. The sensor tag receives the query signal from a 3-D printed Vivaldi antenna at the fundamental frequency (f 0 ) and radiates back to the interrogator at the second harmonic frequency (2f 0 ). The sensor tag consists of a linearly polarized double slot antenna that operates at both the fundamental as well as the second harmonic frequency. Utilizing the capabilities of 3-D printing, a nonlinear diode is embedded onto the substrate and coupled to the antenna for generating the higher order harmonics is designed. The 3-D printed tag is compatible with direct printing onto the buried assets, such as plastic pipelines, as markers for localization. The polarization of the antenna is used for identifying the location and the direction of the pipeline. The sensor tag has higher signal-to-noise ratio and can be readily interrogated with any hand-held readers from above the ground.1 - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Publication The 3d Printability and Mechanical Properties of Polyhydroxybutyrate (PHB) as Additives in Blends Polymer for 3d Printed Arm Cast(Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia, 2023-12)Ahmad Adnan bin Abu BakarAdditive manufacturing, widely known as three-dimensional (3D) printing is a substantial part of in Forth Industrial Revolution (IR 4.0) for the manufacturing ecosystem across a plethora of industrial sectors including electronics, automotive and medical. Within the medical industry, stereolithography (SLA) technique emerges as one of the predominant techniques due to the high-resolution capabilities which is better compared to other additive manufacturing technique. This research aims to utilize blended materials technique in the SLA process with using polyhydroxybutyrate/urethane dimethacrylate (PHB/UDMA) combination to fabricate a new 3D printed materials for medical application in particular arm cast. Viscosity plays a crucial role in the printability of the 3D printed resins. For this research, the maximum viscosity was achieved at approximately 2188 centipoise (cP) with the concentration of PHB at 11% weight ratio. Based on this composition, the tensile and impact strength were able to maintain with a minimal degradation of only 3% relative to the pure UDMA resin which is at 16% in a one month period. The inclusion of PHB is attributed to the structural integrity and stability of the 3D printed materials. Based on the clinical application standards, only 3% by weight composition of PHB failed to meet the requirements for the degree of double bond conversion (DC). These are good indications as most of the composition shows a more complete polymerization process which leads to better performance. For the crystallinity index, the inclusion of PHB contributed towards crystalline structures within UDMA based resin and make the 3D printed PHB/UDMA more prone to fracture, thus in line with the reduction of mechanical performance. Meanwhile, FESEM pictures portrayed two distinct phases region between PHB and UDMA proved the poor interfacial adhesion between the polymer blend. Based on the overall results, 7 wt. % of PHB content was selected as an optimal blending mixture composition for 3D printed arm cast due to better mechanical performance and passed the minimum standard level of DC. This research shows significant contributions in understanding the relationship between printability and mechanical properties of PHB/UDMA resins in particular for 3D printed arm cast using SLA technique.11 208
