Muslim Traveler Apps: Android-Based Islamic Tourism Guide Application

Islamic tourism is one of the tourism systems based on sharia regulations. Aspects needed are the availability of halal food, worship facilities, Ramadan iftar services, and restrictions on activities that are contrary to sharia. Indonesia is among the top ten countries having the largest Muslim population in the world (87% of the total population) who love to travel. Many cities in Indonesia prospectedintoa goodIslamicTourismdestination, such as MalangCity, which become a halal tourism pilot project because of itsmany famous destinations and a high number of tourists. Unfortunately, this high-potential city hasn’t been able to facilitate tourists in providing complete guidance information related to Islamic tourism. Interview’s resultshowed that until now, tourists looked for islamictourism information separately. Based on the problems, the researcherstook the initiative to provide a solution in the form of "Muslim Traveler Apps: Android-Based Islamic Tourism Guide Application". The application provides information about Islamic tourism destinations along with some pictures, texts, videos, Islamic lodging information, halal restaurants, recommendations of halal souvenirs, traveling prayers, the Quran, qibla direction, and notifications for prayer time. The methodology used for system development is the waterfall modelthatincluded in the classic life cycle, which emphasizes sequential and systematic phases.To analyze the impact of this apps, we usedthe qualitative data method. The results ofinterview and questionnaire data obtains 93.34% of respondents answered that they urgently need applications. Hopefully, this application can help Muslim tourists easily get the necessary information before traveling.
