Abstract
Tafsīr Mafatīḥ al-Ghayb is one of the renowned interpretations written by Imam Al-Razi and is categorized as tafsīr bi al-ra’yi that incorporates interest in science knowledge. However, scientific studies regarding the field of nutrition in this interpretation have not been extensively explored. Futhermore, nutrition-related diseases are increasing nowadays. Therefore, this study aims to examine the concept of nutrition in Quranic perspective based on Tafsīr Mafatīḥ al-Ghayb using the qualitative approach that involves library research and document analysis of Quranic verses related to the concept of nutrition with the interpretations based on Tafsīr Mafātiḥul Ghayb. Three research objectives were outlined to guide the process of this research: 1) To identify Quranic verses related to the concept of nutrition, 2) To analyze Quranic verses related to the concept of nutrition based on Tafsīr Mafatīḥ al-Ghayb , 3) To identify thematically the concept of nutrition in Quranic perspective based on Tafsīr Mafātīh al-Ghayb. The findings of the study indicate that Tafsīr Mafātīḥ al-Ghaybdoes indeed explain the concept of nutrition. This concept involves two main processes which are concerned with how food is obtained and how food affects the body. From these processes, the researcher identified four main themes of the concept of nutrition in Quranic perspective based on Tafsīr Mafātīh al-Ghayb: 1) The sources of food, 2) The characteristics of food, 3) The ethics of food intake, 4) The effects of food intake into the human beings. By integrating both naqli and ‘aqli knowledge, this study contributes to society and the researchers in the field of practical nutrition science in Quranic perspective based on Tafsīr Mafātīh al-Ghayb. The findings can be suggested to relevant authorities as a healthcare and preventive approach grounded in the Quran to prevent non-communicable diseases. It is anticipated that these research will be expanded for the betterment of humanity in the world and the hereafter.
