Abstract
This study deals with the phenomenon of intertextuality in the Emirati poet Ali Saif al-Sha‘āli, who is one of the young poets who were able to break into the poetry arena with their inimitable ability, so he deserved a prestigious place among the poets of the UAE, and it is based on his poems in his Dīwān (Nahla and Rababa). So the aim of this study was to show the types of religious and literary intertextuality, both obvious and hidden, and the poet's ability to use his multiple culture to adapt that intertextuality to serve the poem with its ideas and connotations. So the approach followed was the descriptive analytical method based on examining the poem in the Dīwān (Nahla and Rabah) and extracting intertextuality from it and indicating its type, the extent of its importance in the text, and the function it ultimately performs to achieve the poet's ideas in what he wants from the poem. This study resulted in the diversity of the poet's intertextuality between religious and poetic intertextuality, and the tyranny of the former –religious intertextuality -to indicate the poet's religious culture, and also used intertextuality with its obvious and hidden face to serve the purposes of his poem, and the ideas it carries for the reader.
