Kompetensi dan Prestasi Pegawai Sulh Wanita dalam Mengendalikan Kes Mal di Mahkamah Syariah

Sulh officers are the backbone of the application and practice of alternative dispute resolution in syariah courts. The knowledge and experience of sulh officers could influence the smoothness of sulh process as well as the success of the process. The objective of the research is to identify, among others, the competency of female Sulh officers in handling and resolving the “mal” cases, the level of confidence of the officers and the goodness and the weakness in terms of skills amongst the female sulh officers. Other than that, another objective is to identify as well as to compare the competency of female sulh officers in terms of period of service between the sulh officers from the Joint Scheme States (Federal) and Non Joint States (States) in Malaysia. Using the qualitative and quantitative methods, this research could prove that a competent female sulh officer is vital and significant for the purpose of achieving the objective of sulh process, ensuring the efficiency of the process and eventually would contribute generally to uplift the performance and image of the syariah courts.
