Abstract
In Malaysia, students’ achievement in science remains a concern. Many primary students find science and mathematics difficult, leading to a weak foundation that contributes to a lower number of students pursuing science at the secondary level. Only 19% of students choose STEM subjects in higher secondary school, far below the targeted 60%. To address these issues, innovative teaching tools like augmented reality (AR) have been suggested. Therefore, AR-science storybook: Solar system was develop. AR is shown to enhance learning by making subjects more interactive and engaging, as demonstrated in studies on topics like the solar system. Research on AR-based learning tools has shown positive results, with students scoring higher in comprehension and engagement. A study was conducted to design an AR-science storybook on the solar system for primary students, aiming to improve their understanding of this challenging topic. After being evaluated by subject and media experts, the storybook was found to be highly feasible, scoring 86.54% in content validation and 93.75% in media validation. The AR elements made the content more attractive and engaging, showing potential for improving students' learning outcomes. Consequently, this AR-science storybook could be a valuable tool in science education.
