Abstract

The Malaysian government is interested in the teaching of Arabic on the various levels of education. It is also serious in widening the use of Arabic for special purposes such as teaching Arabic for the purposes of tourism industry, the field of economy, administration, social, agriculture and others. This development calls for the practitioners and related agencies to be equipped with theory of translation to translate the terminologies from Malay into Arabic. The function of morphology is unquestionable in translation. Any addition, deletion and change in the form of word would bring a different meaning. This research had taken terminologies used in Arabic printed materials in Malaysia in the fields of tourism, administration and others. It concludes that translating these terms is highly dependent on an in depth knowledge of morphology and word formation in order to grasp differences between the forms and their meaning. This is to ensure correct rendering between the languages.
