Shura and democracy are two common words used, frequently to describe Muslim and western political system. The Quran urges Muslims particularly the Prophet to use the principal of shura to lead and administer the country to avoid the use of an autocratic system. Is shura and democracy synonymous or two different word? Is there any common ground between the words? The study elaborated and attempted to answer these questions.
