dc.description.abstract | This research investigates the level of knowledge, awareness, and attitudes towards drug abuse among students of different genders in Melaka. The study addresses the pressing issue of increasing drug abuse among adolescents, highlighting the need for effective educational interventions tailored to specific demographic groups. A quantitative research design was employed, utilizing a structured questionnaire distributed to a sample of students from various educational institutions in Melaka. The questionnaire assessed participants' knowledge of drug types, awareness of the consequences of drug abuse, and their attitudes towards drug users and prevention efforts. Data were analyzed using Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) version 26.0 to identify significant differences between male and female students. The findings indicate that both genders possess a similar levels of awareness of drug abuse, female students demonstrated higher levels of basic understanding and more knowledgable regarding specific drugs and their effects compare to male students. However, misconceptions about attitude of addiction and its consequences were prevalent among both genders. The study reveals a generally negative attitude towards drug users, suggesting a stigma that may hinder effective communication and support for those affected by substance abuse. This research underscores the importance of developing targeted educational programs that address the identified gaps in knowledge and promote positive attitudes towards drug prevention. By fostering a more informed and empathetic student population, the study aims to contribute to the broader efforts of reducing drug abuse in Melaka and enhancing community health outcomes | |
