Abstract
As globalization propels technology across diverse media, individuals globally, inclusive of Muslim societies, can access knowledge and information instantaneously through online websites and various media platforms, irrespective of their geographical location. This phenomenon, while having potential positive implications, may also harbor negative consequences. The circulation of false information in various domains within society could potentially inflict societal harm. The objective of this study is to scrutinize the dissemination of knowledge and information in the age of globalization. This paper predominantly concentrates on the dual impacts -positive and negative- of knowledge and information dissemination in the era of globalization, while also incorporating an Islamic point of view. It offers guidance to Muslim communities on engaging solely in permissible activities as guided by the Quran and Sunnah. The findings reveal that the globalization-driven dissemination of knowledge and information yields both positive and negative effects. This study emphasizes the inevitability and significant influence of globalization, highlighting the necessity of examining this phenomenon through an Islamic lens as a guiding principle for Muslims globally.
