Abstract
Since the newsroom has started adopting a new computerized system, it has mainly shaped
the practice of journalists and the method of news production within their workplace network,
making technological advancements in the newsroom a crucial factor in the development of
the news industry in Malaysia. As a result of these shifts, a new type of journalistic practice
has emerged, emphasising multi-skilling, multimedia, and juggling several responsibilities
within the newsroom infrastructure. As a result of technological advancements, journalists
now have more resources at their disposal to learn about their profession in depth. This study
aims to examine the impact of technology on Journalism among journalists and news workers
in Malaysian. This study was conducted among journalists, editors and newsroom workers
through an online survey and interview. Using the convenience sampling technique, the
researcher selects the respondents based on their availability and willingness from Sinar
Harian. This study also includes details on technology adoption in newsrooms. The finding
indicates that journalists in Malaysia accept the changes brought by technology and how it
impacts journalism practice. This study states some particular hindrances or issues leading to
journalists’ slow development in news gathering involving technology. This study’s findings
generally provide an overview of the impact of technology on journalism among journalists,
editors and newsroom workers in Malaysia.
