Abstract
This quantitative study aimed at diagnose the dominant leadership styles in the basic education schools for grades (5-10) in the Sultanate of Oman, and analyze the levels of job satisfaction among the teachers. The analytical descriptive approach was used. The study population were (3927) teachers. A random sample of (450) teachers was selected.Two questionnaires prepared: the first to measure the educational leadership, consisting of (56) statements included three axes. The second to measure teachers’ job satisfaction that includeds (52) statements in five axes. Data analysis used: arithmetical averages, standard deviations، T test، one-way variance analysis، and Pearson correlation coefficient.The findings revealed that: the principals used different educational leadership styles، which was: (democratic, liberal, and autocratic). The levels of job satisfaction were: (satisfaction with the principal, satisfaction with income and promotion, satisfaction with school، satisfaction with colleagues, and satisfaction with the nature of work). There is a positive relationship between (democratic) leadership and job satisfaction levels. The researcher recommends encouraging managers to use the democratic leadership style.
