This study discusses the policy of Umar ibn Al-Khattab - may Allah be pleased with him - in dealing with epidemics in the light of COVID-19. Its importance lies in
discussing the measures taken to deal with the pandemic from the perspective of the prophetic tradition, especially Umar's - may Allah be pleased with him - ijtihad in
dealing with epidemics. The study aims to identify the policies used by Umar ibn Al- Khattab - may Allah be pleased with him - in controlling epidemics and compare them with the decisions taken by authorities in combating COVID-19. The researcher used an inductive methodology in the study by examining hadiths, reports, news and accounts related to epidemics during the time of Umar ibn Al-Khattab - may Allah be pleased with him - and during the time of COVID-19. In addition, a descriptive
methodology was used to present the actions taken by Umar in dealing with epidemics during his reign, and to explain the actions taken by authorities in combating COVID- 19 and 2019. The researcher used an analytical methodology to compare these two policies. The study consists of an introduction, four chapters, and a conclusion. The first chapter is an introduction to the study, the second chapter discusses the introduction to Umar ibn Al-Khattab - may Allah be pleased with him - and his policy in dealing with crises in general, the third chapter discusses Umar ibn Al-Khattab's policy - may Allah be pleased with him - in dealing with epidemics, and the fourth chapter discusses the comparison of Umar's policy in dealing with epidemics with international decisions in facing the COVID-19 pandemic. The conclusion summarizes the research findings.
