Reconstructing Men's Roles in the Family: A Study of The Quran Using the Maqasid Al-Syatibi Approach

The phenomenon of the boy crisis and the increasing issue of a fatherless society in various parts of the world pose a serious challenge to the sustainability of future generations. The loss of a father figure in the family not only impacts the weakening of boys' identities but also threatens the formation of a just civil society. The Qur'an, as the primary source of values for Muslims, emphasizes the role of men, especially fathers, in family leadership, moral education, and the formation of civilization. This study aims to reexamine the role of men in the Qur'an, focusing on family leadership as a foundation for a global civil society. The research method used is library research, analyzing Qur'anic verses, interpretations, and contemporary literature relevant to gender studies, leadership, and family education. The results show that the Qur'an views men not only as husbands but also as fathers who bear great responsibility in guiding, protecting, and educating their children. This role is inseparable from the sustainability of civil society because the family is the smallest unit that forms civilization. The findings also demonstrate a fundamental critique: marriage for men does not simply mean becoming a husband but rather entails full readiness to be a responsible father, spiritually, morally, and socially. In conclusion, the formation of a civil society, from a Qur'anic perspective, is inextricably linked to strengthening the role of men within the family. Failure to fulfill the role of father directly impacts a generational crisis, while successfully fulfilling it will be a key asset for creating a Qur'anic civilization that contributes to global unity.
