Abstract

This study aims to discuss the uslūb khabarī of the terminology shakes revealed in the Quran. The objective of the study is to identify the elements and focus of uslūb khabarī for the context of shakes (zalzalah) in the Qur’an that carry the real meaning (haqīqī) or figurative meaning (majāzī). This study is a qualitative study that uses the Ma'ani approach by Lāsyin and Halliday’s theory of Systemic Functional Linguistics the basis of the study. Content analysis methods are used to examine the text both textually and contextually. The study material is a fragment of a verse from the Qur'an that contains the terminology shakes. The findings show that there are two contexts of meaning that involve the terminology shakes in the Qur'an, namely the shakes, which refer to the earthquake, and the vibration, which refers to the human heart. In total, there are four verses of zalzalah that use the uslūb khabarī approach, which carries the real meaning (haqīqī) and figurative meaning (majāzī). The real meaning (haqīqī) is referring to the earthquake that will occur on Judgement Day, and the figurative meaning (majāzī) in another verse refers to the vibrations of the stand in the hearts of believers.
