dc.description.abstractShariah-based marriage is a crucial matter because it can influence the shape of life which Muslims experience in shaping a good Muslim community. However, it is observed that therate of birth of unauth children amongst teenagers is skyrocketing annually, due to the illicit relationship in the eyes of Shariah. This problem carries negative implications towards family institutions and to society generally. Therefore, this study aims at studying the extent of effectiveness of Nikah Khitbah amongst teenagers as an alternative for already available measures to lower the rate of unlawful sexual relationships (zina) and illegitimate child births. This proposed solution is an alternative for already available preventive measures. The author utilizes the textual study method by referring to fiqh corpus, periodicals, and state rulings (fatwa). The results acquired confirm that Nikah Khitbah is a relevant alternative for handling the abovementioned problems. Nevertheless, its executions need proper guidelines and exposures by enforcement officials. Hopefully that this study will provide proper expositions amongst the society on the importance of khitbah and, in turn, helps lower the rate of the births of an illegitimate child.en_US
