Abstract
Stress is defined as a nonspecific response of the body to any demand. Scientifically, stress is regarded as the perception of threat resulting in anxiety discomfort, emotional tension, and difficulty in adjustment. In recent years, stress has become more popular among the students. Past research conducted on stress among Malaysian Gifted students has yet not been carried out much. The study aims to identify the level of stress among Muslims gifted students. This study is quantitative in the form of a survey using the Perceived Stress Scale Inventory (PSS) instrument. The sample of this study is a total of 33 students in Form 3 at one of the Muslim gifted and talented schools in Negeri Sembilan. The Perceived Stress Scale (PSS) inventory was analysed using the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS). Overall, the results showed a low stress level for one person, a moderate stress level for 20 students, and a high perceived stress level for 12 students. In conclusion, it provides early exposure to high school students in identifying stress in students. This finding is also useful for parents as well as school psychology and counselling units in understanding these students.
