Abstract
This quantitative study addressed the extent of strategic leadership's effect on the activation of comprehensive quality management in the private universities in the Sultanate of Oman. The study aimed at measuring the extent of strategic leadership effect on comprehensive quality management of strategic leaders in the private universities in the Sultanate of Oman and university governance as a mediating variable. The study used Likert Theory of Leadership (Likert, 1961) to get the best solutions and results. In order to achieve the best performance of comprehensive quality management by the strategic approach of the leader, transparency, control, accountability, activation of organizational culture, and achievement of objectives, the study used the quantitative descriptive approach. In order to achieve the goals of the study, a questionnaire of (70) statement was built for data collection. A random sample of (374) faculty members. The data was processed using exploratory and assertive factor analysis, as well as structural equation modeling using AMOS software. The study concluded many results; the most important of them were as follows: There was a direct effect for strategic leadership (39%) and university governance (62%) for the administrative leaders in the private universities in the Sultanate of Oman on the comprehensive quality management. There was a direct effect for strategic leadership on university governance (57%) and an indirect effect on comprehensive quality management in the presence of university governance as a mediating variable. Therefore, the total effect of the relationship between strategic leadership and comprehensive quality management is (85%). The most important of the recommendation of this study was to conduct a similar study for all private and public universities and colleges which could be facing some challenges concerning comprehensive quality management, as well as conducting studies for the underlying factors of the independent variable in a detailed manner by considering each of them as independent variable separately, as well as the extent of its effect on the dependent variable.
