Enhancing Quranic Education For Autistic Children in Malaysia: A Systematic Literature Review

Abstract
The prevalence of autism has been steadily increasing globally over the past decade. Despite this trend, access to Quranic education for autistic children remains an often-overlooked aspect. While significant efforts are dedicated to educating neurotypical individuals, children with autism frequently encounter barriers that hinder their ability to receive adequate religious education. This study employs a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) to analyse the existing Quranic education methods in Malaysia and evaluate their suitability for autistic children. The analysis encompasses both formal and informal institutions to provide a comprehensive understanding of available approaches. Findings indicate that while various Quranic teaching methods are implemented across Malaysia, not all are appropriate for autistic children. The study underscores the need for further research and adaptation of Quranic education to accommodate the unique learning needs of autistic children. Ensuring their inclusion in religious education is crucial for their spiritual development and participation in religious practices, particularly in Quranic learning.
