Abstract
Communicative Language Teaching (CLT) is important in boosting students’ capability to communicate more confidently in English. However, without direct interaction with the trained facilitators, the delivery tends to be ineffective. UTeM has organized “Hello Talk!” program that involved 20 local and international participants during Series I, where they were first trained by lecturers from the Centre for Language Learning, UTeM on 3 training modules that include Charades, Train the Brain and Pronounce It Perfectly. During Series II, they switched role to facilitators in executing the modules for 33 participants from Sekolah Kebangsaan Tanjong Tohor. At the end of each series, feedback was collected among all the 20 facilitators. Of all the respondents, 95 % agree that; the TOT program is relevant as their preparation for series II program and they had positive perception on the program. 100% agree that they gained the desired knowledge from the ToT program and did have knowledge in conducting the modules for primary school students. Meanwhile, for series II, 90% agree that they did have skills in facilitating the school students and manage to transfer the skills learnt from Series I program to the school students, 80% agree that they were able to deploy the skills gained from Series I program in facilitating the school students, 90% agree that they did recognize their improvement in teaching skills and gained educational benefits out of it, and lastly 95% agree that they did help to improve the well-being of the local community, which are the school students themselves.
