Abstract
Parental involvement in the education of children is crucial in any cultural or religious context, including Islam. In Islam, education is highly valued, and parents are considered the primary educators and role models for their children. Parents are responsible for imparting religious education to their children. There for, this study aims to explain the essential elements in muslim parenting from the perspective of Al-Ghazali; explore the important of parent’s involvement in educating Islam; and analyse the effect of the parents’ involvement towards children. This study applied document analysis and interview as data collection method. Five parents are interviewed with open ended questions. As a result, there are three important elements in parenting, according to Al-Ghazali, namely knowledge acquisition, worshipping Allah and relation and responsibility towards children. All the participants agree that parent’s involvement in nurturing Islamic education to children is very important besides to only focusing on academic education. Some opinions of the participants regarding the effect of parents’ involvement in educating Islamic teaching, namely curb bad influences, good behavior or akhlak and clear guidelines for children. This finding potentially to create awareness and offer guidance to parents, encouraging them to enhance their efforts for the well-being of their children and families. It serves as a reminder that when individuals prioritize the practice and preservation of their faith, Allah, the Almighty, ensures the well-being of the family structure, leading to harmony within the broader community.
