Penentuan 'Uruf Pemakaian Emas Wanita Islam Di Negeri Sembilan

This research is on "Applying custom 'uruf in determining the payment of zakat on gold jewellery worn by muslim women in Negeri Sembilan". This study is conducted to over come the problem of determining the rate of paying the zakat for on jewelleries and adornments, exceeding the limit set by custom upon urf The researcher provides a general explanation on zakat. Furthermore the researcher elaborates on zakat on jewelers and adornments by providing various opinions making the payment mandatory and vice versa. The researcher provides the legal proof raised by the proponnetns and opponent of the mandatory payment. The researcher presents his preferred opinion that is "it is mandatory to pay the zakat for jewellery and adornment when the limit set by custom ('zrruf) had been exceeded". The researcher sets a moderate rate upon surveying the customs of the different states in malaysia. The researcher finds the opinion given to be suitable, hlfils public interest and complies with syariah principles.
