Abstract
This study examines, based on Saudi Arabian law and Islamic jurisprudence, the status and rules of Tawaf Wada’ and Optional Tawaf in the courtyard of the Kaabah for Hajj and Umrah pilgrims fraudulently wearing Ihram clothes after the COVID-19 pandemic. Documentation and observation methods were used to collect data, which were analysed through document analysis. The findings show that performing Tawaf Wada’ and Optional Tawaf under such circumstances is prohibited, sinful and considered reprehensible behaviour that may jeopardise the acceptability and integrity of Hajj and Umrah as supported by Islamic jurisprudence, the Quran, the sayings of the Prophet Muhammad (SAW) and the objectives of Shariah. The Saudi government's decision to restrict tawaf in the Kaabah courtyard to Hajj pilgrims during the Hajj season and Umrah pilgrims is appropriate and consistent with Shariah to prevent difficulties, overcrowding, damage and the spread of diseases such as COVID-19 and influenza. This study is a guide for future Hajj and Umrah pilgrims to follow these regulations, recognise their wisdom and fulfil these religious duties with commendable behaviour in order to achieve an accepted and blessed Hajj and Umrah.
