Abstract
This dissertation examines adabul ikhtilaf from da’wah perspective within the Malaysian context through a thematic analysis approach. The study aims to (1) identify the key themes of adabul ikhtilaf based on Qur’an and hadith, (2) explore contemporary issues related to adabul ikhtilaf in Malaysia, and (3) propose contemporary da’wah approaches to address these issues. Data were collected from classical and contemporary scholarly works on adabul ikhtilaf, academic articles, as well as real-life cases in Malayia obtained from digital news sources. The findings reveal five main themes rooted in the Qur’an and hadith: maintaining sincere intention, tolerance and mutual respect, avoiding harshness and insults, wisdom, and patience in da’wah. In the contemporary context, four additional themes were identified: sincerity to Allah, ethical and respectful dialogue, tolerance and moderation, and preserving unity while avoiding division. This study is significant as it not only integrates the views both classical and contemporary scholars but also fills a gap in da’wah research by offering a practical and inclusive thematic framework for addressing differences of opinion within the Malaysian Muslim community.
