Abstract
In this work, solid biopolymer electrolytes (SBEs) system comprises of carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC) as polymer host, ammonium acetate (NH4CH3COO) as doping salt and ethylene glycol (EG) as plasticizer was prepared via solution casting technique was the best option to be introduced. Upon addition of plasticizer into CMC-NH4CH3COO SBEs system, at 35 wt.% of EG; the conductivity obtained at the room temperature is 1.54 x 10-5 Scm-1 . The conductivity of plasticized CMC-NH4CH3COO SBEs system by various temperatures obeyed Arrhenius law where the ionic conductivity increased as the temperature increased. Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR) analysis has proved the functional group of the plasticized CMC-NH4CH3COO SBEs system and the interaction between them. For the conductivity behavior of CMC-NH4CH3COO-EG SBEs films, it was detected by Transference Number Measurement (TNM) in the range of 1.0 V ~ 1.5 V connected to the computer. The higher value of ti than the value of te of the all samples proved that the SBEs system is a proton conductor. In conclusion, the output of this work can be contributing to the development of proton energy storage especially the electrolytes due to these three parameters characterization.
