Since its foundation by Imam Abu Mansur Maturidi in Samarkand and throughout the political, ideological, scientific, and social history of Islam, this school of Sunni kalam has fought against various misguided sects such as the Khawarij, the Mu’tazilites, and the Shia. This article explores the role of the doctrine of Maturidiyya in the fight against extremist movements in the Southeast Asian region.
