Seventy (70) students from 138 students from a primary school in Hilir Perak district have been selected and assigned to their respective groups by using random sampling method. The experimental research design is adopted, with respondents divided into the experimental group and control group. Two types of instruments have been used in this research which are questionnaire and test sets in order to examine the impact of motivation towards students' achievement through the usage of DST approach in teaching and learning Malay Language. The mean analysis, t-test and correlation test are used to measure the difference in pre-test and post-test results as well as the student's motivation. This study shows that DST approach in teaching and learning had increased students' motivation (mean = 4.51) and improved students' achievements (mean = 89.1, t = 6.074). The findings also shows that there is significant correlation between motivation and students' achievements (r = .482).
