The department plays a significant role in disseminating Islamic teachings, especially the fatwa, Islamic laws and publication in particular: Established in 1983, the institution saw the engagement of eleven Muftis. The objective of this study is to collect data and information relating to all of the Muftis of Kelantan. The study also aims at scrutinizing and recognizing the role and contribution of the said Mufti Department in giving prestige and propagating the Islamic precepts to the Kelantanese society.
