Publication Adaptation, Translation and Validation of The Warwick-Edinburgh Mental Well-Being Acreda Scale (WEMWBS-ACREDA)(IDOSI Publications, 2016) ;Amin Al Haadi Bin Shafie ;Abd Halim Bin Mohd Husin ;Mohd Rushdan Mohd Jailani ;Mohamad Isa Bin Amat ;Khairunneezam Bin Mohd Noor ;Adam FarizMohd Rafidi Bin JusohThe Warwick-Edinburgh Mental Well-Being Scale (WEMWBS) was developed to assess the mental well-being of an individual or population. This study reports the processes of translation, validation and analysis of the reliability of the Malay version of the WEMWBS (WEMWBS-ACREDA). The instrument consists of 20 positively worded items and uses a5-point likert scale. The 14 original items in the WEMWBS were maintained and 6 new items measuring spirituality were added. The adaptation, translation and validation processes for the instrument were performed by four experts in counselling and psychology with Malay and English language competency. The experts used face validity and back translation techniques. A pilot test was conducted to determine the reliability of the new translated version of the WEMWBS-ACREDA and involved 51 randomly selected in-patients at the Cure and Care Clinic. The data were analysed using Cronbach's alpha and the result of 0.91 indicated high reliability. These findings indicate that the translated version of the WEMWBS-ACREDA is reliable and appropriately measures the mental well-being of normal individuals involved in drug abuse in a local setting. Moreover, the new translated version of the WEMWBSACREDA represents a short and convenient psychological tool. However, further studies are recommended to support the findings of this research. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings

Publication The Impact Of Integrated Psychospiritual Module Among The Drug Addicts In Malaysia In Elevating The Psychospiritual And Drug-related Locus Of Control Level Towards The Decrease Of Relapse Rate.(Human Resource Management Academic Research Societ, 2018) ;Amin Al Haadi Bin Shafie ;Mohd Rushdan Bin Mohd Jailani ;Nurul Ashikin Binti Ahmat Miskam ;Fatini Athilah Binti EliasHishamuddin Bin Abdul WahabThe fluctuating number of relapse cases among the drug addicts in Malaysia has been creating many worries to all parties. This urges the parties to this problem to restudy its contributing factors, improve current treatments employed and discover the other potential dimensions of human to accommodate the very need of the drug addict clients to stay abstinent. Considering the psychosocial and vocational elements we have had in current practices that seemingly provide a room for improvement, the new dimension of human psychospiritual approach was particularly put forth in this research. The Islamic psychospiritual model centring on Islamic Sufism principles in combination with Interpersonal and Intrapersonal elements was established in this research as the guiding principles to develop an Integrated Psychospiritual Module (IPM) in reducing relapse rate. This module was particularly focusing on the weightage of drug-related locus of control and psychospiritual level of drug addicts to stay abstinent. The effectiveness of the module was measured by imposing it as psycho-educational intervention treatment upon the purposive sampling of 38 clients in a drug rehabilitation center in Malaysia. One group experimental design was suitably formed and t-Test analysis was used to measure the significant difference between the pre and post test mean values to see the effectiveness of the module by using two specific instruments that measure both aformentioned aspects. Both variables showed the significant difference with the post values 25.3684 and 171.3947 respectively. It was notified that the post t-test mean values for both variables were higher than their pre-test scores which were 23.6842 and 165.4211 respectively. In addition, the qualitative data obtained did support the quantitative analysis by using triagulation method signifying the positive feedbacks from respondents through facilitators’ observations, participants’ feedbacks after group activity and in-depth interview with respect to the variables studied. Therefore, the IPM is certainly effective in elevating the level of drug-related locus of control and psychospirituality instrumental to reduce relapse rate among the drug-addicts. Publication Instrumentation of Psychospiritual Scale for Malaysian Drug Rehabilitation Centres(Human Resource Management Academic Research Society, 2018) ;Amin Al Haadi Bin Shafie ;Nurul Ashikin Binti Ahmat Miskam ;Mohd Rushdan Bin Mohd Jailani ;Muhammad Khairi Bin MahyuddinHishamuddin Bin Abdul WahabThe significance of spirituality element in one’s life is not to be silenced. The dualistic nature of human be it physical and spiritual seeks for the balance contentment as so one can achieve the tranquility of life and manage to think, feel and act accordingly. The problem of drug abuse that has been happening nowadays is seemed to be plausible to be associated with the lack of spiritual awareness causing them to choose that path. Recognizing the potentiality of spirituality in drug abuse, this paper attempts to explain the instumentation of psychospiritual inventories in drug abuse in light of making it easier for other drug abuse researchers to quantify the level of drug abuser’s spiritual condition. The psychospiritual scale formulated has 6 domains with 39 items altogether by employing 5-Likert Scale. The methodology employed was based on Interpretive Content Analysis with thematic technique to rule out the cardinal principles from the Islamic religious scriptures and literatures. Face validation was adopted and assigned to two experts in Islamic Sufism and drug abuse fields. The reliability of the psychospiritual instrument was cronbach alpha 0.962. Split-half reliability of this scale was divided into two where the first part achieved cronbach alpha 0.943 whereas the second part scored alpha cronbach 0.921. Indeed, this result signifies that this instrument has high reliability values and suitable to be used worldwide. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings

Wan Kamaruddin ;Nurul Ashikin MiskamMusa B. MohamadDrug abuse has been declared as the number one enemy of the country since 1983. Various efforts have been conducted by the government to help address the problems of drug abuse. The increasing number of drug addicts is not only due to the number of new drug addicts, but also relapse cases. Relapse is caused by 'Triggers' in which the addict feels 'Craving' for drugs. 'Trigger' can be: (1) people, (2) place, (3) situation and (4) drugs itself. There are techniques to help in address the problem of relapse according to the cognitive behavior Therapy. This technique is called 'Relapse Prevention Techniques' (RP) which involving seven (7) steps. The Seven steps are: (1) Identify the level of motivation of the clients, (2) Identify risk situations, (3) change the lifestyle, (4) Identify the client’s process of relapse, (5) identify when the clients made irrelevant decisions (6)Identify cognitive factors related to relapse and (7) Management of risk situations. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Publication Peer Influences: Risk Factors to Voluntary and Non-Voluntary Clients to Remain Abstinence(Human Resource Management Academic Research Society, 2021) ;Amin Al Haadi Bin Shafie ;Mizan Adiliah Ahmad Ibrahim ;Abdul Rashid Bin Abdul Aziz ;Amer Fawwaz Bin Mohamad YasidNur Amalina Binti Abd LazizDrug cases among teenagers are on the rise from year to year. Their involvement is said to be due to many risk factors, and one of them is the risk factor of peer influences. Many efforts were implemented by the government and authorities to treat the issues of drug abusers, including providing treatment and rehabilitation services. However, the tendency to remain abstinent may be different based on the risk factors, types of clients, and conditions of the clients. Therefore, this paper is undertaken to identify the comparison in peer influence risk factors between four groups which are voluntary clients, non-voluntary clients, clients who underwent the treatment at the center, and clients after undergoing the treatment at the center in the tendency to remain abstinence. Besides, this paper is undertaken to explore the risk factor of peer influences to relapse in drug problems. A comparison study with a mixed-method design involving qualitative and quantitative methods has been adopted in this study. The study participants were recruited based on purposive sampling technique and 24 private treatment centers were involved in this study. A mixed triangulation method was implemented for data collection of quantitative and qualitative data. Quantitative data were collected using structured questionnaires and the Stage of Change Scale (SoCS) while qualitative data were collected through interviews and using semi-structured questionnaires. Quantitative data were analyzed using descriptive statistics to summarize and describe the study’s findings. T-test was conducted to identify the differences of viewpoints between voluntary and non-voluntary clients and meanwhile, the qualitative data were analyzed by theme. Four hypotheses were tested and hypothesis 1 was accepted. The finding from the hypothesis 1 revealed that there are significant differences for peer influences risk factors based on non-voluntary and voluntary clients who are still undergoing treatment at the center. Non-voluntary clients, who are still undergoing treatment are reported more affected by the risk of peer influences to remain abstinent than voluntary clients. Meanwhile, the findings from the interview revealed that peer influence factors became a motivator for relapse in drug issues among voluntary clients, non-voluntary clients, clients who are still undergoing treatment at the center, and clients after undergoing the treatment at the center. Hence, it showed that peer influence was a significant risk factor for voluntary and non-voluntary clients to remain abstinent and relapse in drug issues. The further researchers proposed the study on the develops support module for parents in managing children who are involved in drug abuse so that they can remain abstinent. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
